Crisis of wardrobe!

the whole thing about modest skirts and matching tops ws really difficult for me.
i totally was not into that at all.. i really felt such a fraud in my jw clothes and couldn't wait to get them off!.

Hairy Porter and the Chamber of Demons
by comforter inwill you let your kids see hairy porter and the chamber of demons?
the nameless one's little peeps ain't a seeing that mess.
spiritism is a work of the flesh.

My kids aren't seeing it either. They're waiting until it comes out on video so we can buy it.We're going to see The Two Towers at the theater instead (the first movie was awesome on the big screen!!)
Harry Potter reminds me of the Roald Dahl books I read when I was a kid, especially James and The Giant Peach. I loved the first Harry Potter movie, but I like "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" better.
But what I'm really looking forward to is that new book that is coming out about Jack the Ripper. The woman who wrote it spent about two million dollars researching her hypothesis on who Jack the Ripper was.It should be an interesting read.
Actually, my kids liked Blade better--all that blood in the sprinkler scene.

None of your business
by JH inbeing a jehovah witness, did you feel obliged to have a 4 door car?
once i bought a 2 door car, and everyone was looking at me as if i commited a crime.
i then reasoned with them saying, "didn't jesus send his deciples by groups of 2?".
-
Cicatrix
LOL it's the old service car question. Yep, I got nailed on that one. I bought a two-door Eagle Talon with a stick and a sunroof and got the "Well, that's not a very appropriate car for service" speech (to which I retorted "Well, that's good, because I have no intention of driving it in service."), along with the "women who drive fast cars are as fast as the cars they drive" speech.
So I ditched the org and kept the car.It was the best trade I ever made.

Talking in public
by JH inwas it natural for you to speak in public, either from door to door, or making talks at the hall.
for some, it was a real scarry thing to speak in front of a group.
was that a big load off your back when you quit going to the meetings?
-
Cicatrix
Funny you should post that question. I'm surfing here right now trying to avoid working on my speech for communications class. I haven't so much as an outline started, and I have to give my speech Tuesday!
I used to be pretty good giving talks at the hall, so I don't know what happened. Maybe it's because I'm no longer just hand all of the resources to work my talk out with. I actually have to find them myself.AAKK! It's 25 percent of my grade. How nerve wracking. It's not the delivery that scares me, it's compiling the information and coming up with my visuals.

Ho Ho Ho!!
by happy2b inare we all ready for christmas?!!
so, who here buys 'real' trees and who has the fake?
this will be our 4th christmas.
-
Cicatrix
I love the new fake trees with the fiber optic lights, but the live tree won hands-down for my family's first Christmas. We are going to cut a tree off from a relative's property. I'm not sure what kind we'll end up with-probably spruce. I wonder what tamarack would look like, if it would hold up under the weight of decorations. We are also going to make cedar wreaths(has anyone ever had a cedar Christmas tree before?)
The only thing I hate about live trees is that they only last about two weeks when you have wood heat, so we can't put one up until mid-December.

Uh Oh...I think I love my daughter's boyfriend!!
by Beck_Melbourne inthis is a follow up thread to my previous thread entitled "should the boyfriend sleep over" .
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.aspx?id=35891&site=3.
its been a couple of months since i threw out the question about what you all thought about my 17 year old daughter's boyfriend sleeping over.
-
Cicatrix
Beck,
I know what you mean. My daughter just married a sweetheart of a guy a couple of months ago. She's only 18 and in her first year of college, but what the hay, she's going to do what she wants, and she couldn't have picked a nicer guy.I'm not going to spend my time worrying about what's going to happen five years down the road, I'd rather enjoy watching them find happiness with each other now. Que Sera, Sera like the song says.
I'm more worried about my dad. I just love my step mom to pieces, and my dad is not one to keep a marriage together. I've told everyone that if they break up, my step mom gets custody of me:)
My grandparents got married when my grandma was seventeen, and they've been together for seventy years! She has the same worries about spouses breaking up that we do, though. But she maintained strong ties with my mother even after my parents split, so it can be done.
(And hey, what's the matter with the back seat, anyway;0 Just "park that car well outta sight."hehheh)

I've had unexplained events occur in my life-one occured recently, right around the time I chose to send in my DA letter, but I wouldn't call it a demon story.I can't really say whether or not it was a figment of my imagination, but at any rate, it left me comforted, not terrrified.
I have, however, had an experience pre-JW times with a seance that was interesting.
Being so newly out of the org, I've been kind of suspending my judgement on everything until my head is a little clearer and I'm a little more focused.
Wow, Bendrr, those gravesites are beautiful. If I wasn't going to be cremated, I'd like a site like that.I used to love to go to graveyards when I was younger. They are such peaceful places. I never met any ghosts, though.

I collect songs with the word crazy in them, or that portray some sort of off the wall behavior in honor of my in-laws who told most of the community I live in that I am crazy.
Let's see, there's "Comfortably Numb" by Pink Floyd, "Crazy" by Aerosmith, "The Dark Side of the Moon", that country song "Crazy"...can't remember them all at the moment. They're coming to take me away, haha, they're coming to take me away hehe, to the funny farm where life is beautiful all the time.....
I also collect creepy stuffed animals. I have a bat, a snake, a manta, a spider, the Phantom of the Opera and Quasi Moto (but I guess they're not animals, technically speaking). My shark got chewed to bits by my dog, though.
Oh, and I collect chicken statues, but they have to be either realistic or unique looking, not run of the mill birds.
