Preach the good news?????
by JW72 inhi everyone, i was just wondering about 'preaching the good news'.. in order to preach the good news to the whole world, u should really abandon all unnessecary 'wordly' things, and just concentrate on doing the preaching, which is a very very big task and requires your full effort.. so, i was wondering, does that mean, if u wanna fulfil that scripture to the best of your capabilities, that u must give up those things, and soley concentrate on preaching???.
coz, no-one really does that.. or is it o.k to do a bit of preaching???.
i have no idea, i personally wouldn't preach unless i thought i knew the 'secret formula', that was really worth listening to, and wasn't just common sense.. also, is it not important to think about whether there is a god or not?

I think that is one of the main points I argue with myself all the time, is it important??It might be worthwhile to follow the JWs on the preach work and basically contradict everything they've just said to the person at home, u know, let 'em know what we know now, so they know before they screw their lives up!

When I was at school, now and again we would have singing class which I enjoyed(I'm now a musician, so....)
Anyway, one lesson we were singing like normal, but one of the songs the teacher chose was a hymn, I, being an amazing witness, decided not to sing, the teacher saw that I wasn't singing, stopped the proceedings, made me go to the front, face the class, and sing it solo.
AAAAAGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Worst thing is, I hardly knew the words!!!!!!!!!Can I win 1st prize, please?????????????????

i'm not looking for a history lesson, but rather, what auditions did people have to under-go to prove they were 'annointed with the holy spirit' or whatever they call it.. why didn't more people leave with ray franz, he knew what he was talking about, i don't know why he hasn't nuked the remainders in brooklyn!!!!.

by JEMIMAH inwe had a laugh last weekend at our s.a.dthe visiting speaker was from the london bethel (bcm)during the last talk he was trying to encourage the bros not to read non society lit.
the example he uses was of a m/s bro who used to really study his wtwell for a sunday, however he occasionally used secular sources to back up his research.. our bethel speaker in order to prove how wrong this was explained very quickly that because of this secular research, "this brother fell away and caught aids".
the brothers and sisters in the audience where very shocked at the folly of our ex-brother.

Hi open, It's a good point u raise but I think that a person needs to be obedient for a certain amount of his life, ie. childhood, this teaches the kid right and wrong, as he otherwise would not know. It also teaches him/her that they will not always get there way, be it for good or bad reasons.
Also obedience to those who have earned the right to deserve obedience is fine, and to people who have learnt what works through research or personal experience is necessary in society. Obedience is only wrong when the person wanting obedience has wrong orders to obey.Chris
