hi everyone, i havent been here for a while but i do pop in and read whenever i can.
the economic downturn has left my jw husband with much less work which means hes home a lot, which means little jwn-time for me :( so many new ones here!

GGG...I don't have any great advice to pass along. But I can offer you are not alone in feeling stuck in a moment. I've pretty much shed all my JW indoctrination, been completely out for years, remarried to a great woman.....but....still feel like I'm not fully living my life yet. I call it the magic-carpet-ride-to-paradise mindset. Waiting for something that's not coming.
Guess I'm not as unshackled as my username suggests. Hang in there...and congrats on being cancer-free. What a victory.

Was wondering the same thing Sweeney. At first, my thought was "printing two english editions is not cost cutting." Unless...they plan on centralizing their publications to English and cut back on all the other languages they print. Then that is cost-cutting.
Agreed cantleave...especially in regards to this simplified brochure it does raise the question: who ARE they targetting? The regular one was far more basic than the simplified Watchtower. It didn't NEED to be dumbed down more. Who needs one sentence per page?

The bible is just not what everybody thinks it is. There are a lot of myths, rumors, word-of-mouth stories written down. But, facts? Fuggitabout it.

What are your thoughts on this Matthew 24:14? As much as I disagree with many of the WTBS's doctrine, there is a pretty large preaching campaign carried out by them. How do you guys interpret this "sign"? "This gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come."
My days of dissecting scriptures are behind me BUT your Matt 24:14 reference is an interesting question though. I'm really not sure how I'd apply that outside of my JW indoctrinated understanding of it. PSac or Miz will be back...I'm curious of their insightful answers to this.

A few years back when there were the SARS and avian flu outbreaks my father-in-law (an elder) stated something like "there's never been a time like this with so much disease and deadly viruses". He of course was alluding to how bad the times are and we're so close to the end.
I was still a JW but held my tongue because all I thought of was the Bubonic plague. The Black Death wiped out 75 million people. That's insane when you really think about it.
Times are better than ever. Life expectancy alone has doubled in the past 100 years.
So it's a matter of perspective. If one constantly fills their head with how bad things are, that's all you'll see. Of course that is exactly what the WTBS needs to do to keep people in the Borg. Fill them with fear, then place the carrot in front of them. In fact, that's not a tactic exclusive to the Dubs....most religions are based on that model.

Yep, noticed the snake placement too Miz. The illustrator either put it there suggestively or is a sheltered naive JW drone. Undercover is probably right though...he was sportin' a boner the whole time.

P3... I can't believe the size of the houses that JWs are going to live in the New Order - massive 3 storey 10 bedroom timber frame kit mansions (memo to the WTBTS - difficult to build such a building without reinforced concrete)
dozy...I noticed that too. That pic on page 3 is one of the most elaborate paradise illustrations think I've seen. Regarding reinforced concrete...that bridge must be concrete. How'd they pour that? Who made the rebar? Notice no power lines either. Guess they have some future-god-tech we don't know about yet.
Also...Eve is hot. This is some spank bank material for young JW boys.
