Most that leave have strong character in which they are being true to themselves - no longer willing to live a life full of lies. The sacrifice of course is losing friends and family, but the reality is - they are ones making the choice to exclude you from their lives. IMO, leaving is honorable because you are doing what is right in the bigger picture.

it's 27 degrees celsius today = about 35 in my flat, which is about 95 degf for the americans.. .

my friends in tx say it's been over 100 degf for about 2 months ... i don't have ac, but a fan on me .... .

how do you deal with the heat?.

Who's the most intolerant religious group?

i would like to hear people's opinions on intolerant religious groups?

who wins?.

somehow, i have this notion that pentecostals would win 1st place, followed by baptists, followed by jw's.

Considering JWs have zero tolerance of ANY other religion, interesting Wonderment would put them behind Pentecostals and Baptists. Like Sweeney I'm not well-versed in the varieties of christian faith....but why would Pentecostals/Baptists be more intolerant than the Dubs.

Also, wouldn't Islam be fairly high on that list? Or would that just be the radicals?

Hang in there Knowsnothing. Those "what if this is the real deal?" thoughts fade away with time. It isn't logic speaking to you, it is the years of indoctrination and programming. My 2¢ is don't talk to the elders anymore. No matter how well you're prepared you're just not going to get anywhere with them. But you can still continue to try help your mom open her eyes.

Who has NOT read Combatting Cult Mind Control or Crisis of Conscience?

a lot of people here have read and highly recommend ccmc by steven hassan and coc by ray franz, myself included.

i don't know how i would have handled leaving the borg without that knowledge.. so thinking that got me to wondering, who here has not read them (or has read one but not the other), and how are you coping with exiting the borg?

did you get counseling?

No sadly I have yet to read either. Proscrastination in ordering them is the issue. Both are on my must -read list and when I finish posting here I should go do that.

CCMC is particulary of interest as I think I've done a good job de-programming so far, but there are still some things that feel "hard-wired". Sounds like that book will help.
