Interesting sir82. That does seem unusual. Perhaps it was thrown in simply for authenticity, confident that no one would recognize endosymbiotic theory, let alone remember it to research about it later.

More on Saturday's drama: Endo-symbiotic theory mentioned not once but twice
by sir82 ini don't want to give a full synopsis of saturday's drama, for fear of inducing stupor among this thread's readers, but.... .
the drama deals with a jw family with 3 kids, 2 of whom are in various stages of rebellion against all things jw.. the older brother is one of the "rebels", while the younger brother is a thoroughly annoying piece of brown-nosing crapola, completely buying into the jw mindset.. anyways, the younger brother is asking the older brother about why he doesn't want to attend the family study any more.. the older kid's rambling answer touches on something along the lines of "i'm learning things in school about how life really came here.
it's not as simple as you think!".

Am I the only one who finds business witnessing to be tacky?
by keyser soze ini mean, seriously, interrupting people at their place of business, no matter how brief their presentation is, just seems tacky and intrusive, even more so than the door to door work.
it's like they're going out of their way to annoy people.
isn't one of the benefits of having to go to work that you aren't at home when jws call on you?

Agreed keyser. Always felt uncomfortable doing it (more than the usual FS uncomfortable). Worse yet...once worked in a front office and I was the only one up front. My fellow Dubs would show up and ask me to get the boss so they could witness to him...right in front of me. Awkward as hell. The second time it happened I told them I had it covered. Move along you vultures.

The Amish will inherit the Earth
by fade_away inso their belief is basically that soon they will all be amish and revert back to a 16th century lifestyle.
even though they will be able to use 100% of their brain, there will be no technology, just milking cows and eating vegetables and raising barns.
the watch tower even hired weird al to make a video depicting what it will be like.

Bros before ... on the watchtower CD
by bohm inbelow are the average occurances of specific words plottet as a function of year for the watchtower.
the occurences has been normalized such that for instance an occurance of 0.1 correspond to the given word being used an average of 0.1 times per page in the watchtower for that year.
(a page is assumed to contain 3000 characters).. any good ideas?

The 80s spike for 'apostate' makes sense following the Franz shakedown. But the 'ministry' decline after '75....were they just cooling their jets after pushing it so hard prior '75? Didn't think they'd ever let up on pushing ministry...

Strange, dramatic dip there in late 70s for 'ministry'...
How 'bout earthquakes, natural disasters, pollution.

Know the feeling itsybitsy. In the Org we had no shortage of "friends" but looking back they were mostly just acquaintances. But I do miss my old friends, the ones you've had from childhood, that have now been lost. Haven't communicated with what was my best friend in almost 3 years.
So it's slow to start over. I've remarried so my wife's family has been a welcome addition to my life. Problem is we live 1500 kms away. My wife is a yoga instructor and she is starting to make some friends thru that. We live in a fairly small city with 3 congregations, of which I used to be a part of. Frustrating bumping into JWs who were once your friend. Or...having your ex-wife knock on your door in field service.

Very interesting...great work bohm. How about these words or a variation of: governing body / organization, jesus, jehovah. Curious to see if they are using Jesus and Jehovah less, and inserting themselves (GB and Org) more frequently.
"Happy 70s" for the drugs...."Happy 80s" for the sex...

Hey Nebeska…so many great words on here, not sure what I can add other than I too am thinking of you. Hang in there, friend!
Threads like this show the incredible people on this forum - all the great thoughts and concerned words reveal the big hearts on here. Reading thru all the comments these stood out to me and bear repeating...
jean-luc: Dont let the WatchTower win. Come back fighting.
Rocky Girl: A wise woman told me once, when I was teetering on the edge of suicide, that since I was not afraid to die I should think about what I AM afraid to do and then do it. Do something scarier than dying: LIVE.
sizemik: His entire two posts…powerful stuff.
