TD....back in 1999 I remember discussing with my then wife, on more than one occassion, buying Apple stock. I was a believer in the company. Think shares were around $15 or so then. But didn't have much money to invest so never went beyond talking about it. Plus...the new system was coming. Want to kick myself? Yep.

i was watching this history channel show regarding the earth that was talking about the ice ages and the fact we live right now between ice ages and the fact that one is due soon (in several thousand years).... if you take the fact that our time is literally microscopic in the timeline of the planet....... and you realize we worry regarding the life span of the wt and when it is gonna end..... well we are wasting our time.
the wt is gonna dissapear.
trust me it will, along with all the civilization as we know them.... eventually all we have its gonna be gone.. so the question is... should we spend our precious minutes debating when the wt is gonna be gone?
My parents are over 60 and to be honest they are better off inside the Cult than outside... getting them out will only benefit ME but not them.
Cyber makes an important point. Had this same discussion with my non-JW sister...our parents are in their 60s, been Dubs their entire lives. I think they live a miserable life but removing them the Org now...well, I just don't know how they'd fare. At their age, I can't imagine the emotional and mental repercussions if the blindfold was removed.
As for actively trying to "take down" the WT....its just not for everybody. I want those bastards to fry as much as anyone else. But some need to move on and away to heal. Then there's some who have moved on and healed, and then dedicate their time and energy to bringing down the Org and helping others. I admire these ones greatly - thinking of ones like cantleave, MadSweeney, Lady Lee, leavingwt, etc. There's many others, but those came to mind.

Wanting your friends and loved ones to be free of the Society does not constitute a "waste" of your life, and I am truly saddened that you feel so desperate as to draw that conclusion
Hey cedars...can't speak for cyber if that's his conclusion, but here's where I'm at. For the past couple years I've been grappling with that very thing. Yes, I want to free family and friends from the Org. Yes I care deeply about them. But everyone's situation is different. With my JW family members, I don't think there's a way to reach them. They are fundamentalistic lifers. So I feel it is beating my head against the wall obsessing about something that can't be done. I find dwelling on it just perpetuates the frustration and pain.
So I need to let go for the betterment of myself and my own family. Time to let go, rebuild and really live. In the meantime, I can hope for the reasons you listed above something will reach them.....or that the Org will eventually implode.

i wasted 39 years of my life believing that there was life after life.....what should i do with the few minutes i have left?...
Same page here cyber, lots of family still in, lost all the friends I once had. The best thing is to cut out anything holding you back from really living your best life. I'm coming to this realization....but moving on and letting go of the pain and anger is the difficult part.
Comes down to...either get busy living or get busy dying. I prefer the former.
