i had a lot of anger towards them for a good amount of time.
but now, i like to think about the good times we had.
i like to think about their attributes i admired.
I hear ya, man. Same thing. Have lost all my childhood friends, almost all my relatives, and more than half my immediate family. Luckily, some siblings also have seen the light and we are close.
Sad thing is my parents are getting on...and I know the next I "hear" from them will be that one has passed on. If nothing changes...next "reunion" will be over a funeral.
so, i've been thinking a lot lately about the chinks in my "spiritual armor" and my journey from jw to atheist.
i realize now it all started with a mastadon.

Moshe...great stuff on the Arctic lake sediments. Some other main reasons why the flood never could've happened...
• Polar ice caps: ice cores from Greenland give us a history going back 40,000 years, and would give clear evidence of a global flood. None.
• Tree rings: they show us a climate record of the last 10,000 years...and no flood.
• Modern plants: majority would have died submerged in water for 150 days, let alone the salt water. Plus soils would've washed away...they couldn't grow after flood.
• Fresh water fish: simply they would have died. Not just the salt water mix, but massive polution due to dirt, sediment.
• Wooden ships: the largest wooden ship was around 300 feet long, Noah's was 450. Plus, even the longest required iron strapping. Noah didn't have that. Even more, the longest wooden ships leaked and required constant pumping.
• Where did the water come from to cover the earth?: Rain, nope. Not even rain for 40 days/nights would do it; Geysers? Nope, if that much water came from the earth the crust would collapse; Ice Caps? Still not enough water; Comets? Water needed from a comet that size would destroy the earth.
• Atmospheric pressure: even IF it were possible to cover the earth in water it would've drastically changed the earth's atmosphere. Noah and his fam wouldn't be able to breath, let alone stand the pressure from so much water vapor.

they gave the number on how many are using them over reading books and news papers.
one dj said you can put a thousand books into the kindle and off yougo.
They've been pushing the "did this happen by chance or was it designed?" garbage reasoning since the blue Evolution book. Now is a monthly feature in the Asleep!
"Chance" is not the only alternative to "design". They might as well say "What do you think? Did the bacterial flagellum fall out of Abe Vigota's ass or was it designed?"

i've heard the statement from bible apologists so many times that the global flood story of genesis was not a global flood but was probably a local flood.
this seems problematic.. this directly disagrees with the bible.
everywhere the bible internally references a global flood of worldwide scale (i'll throw in matthew 24:39 as a nt example and genesis 6:17 as a ot example.
Hard to understand someone would try so hard to convince themselves of a global flood idea. Guess it comes down to trying to fit facts to conclusion-first thinking.

most of my life i never gave thought to my mortality because i'd be petting a lion forever in the new system.
my hobby could wait because i would have time to pursue it as a perfect being in a paradise.
dying was not a huge deal because i'd wake up in a paradise earth.. then i woke up.
Look at this way…sleeping is like practicing being dead. And most mornings you'd rather keep practicing, right? See…you're good to go.
i'll start off.. i don't believe anything is divine about bible writings.
i believe there may be some marginal history although not much.
i think alot of folk tales and regional myths are contained in the old testament.

i was sitting down to lunch yesterday when i heard the man at the table behind me say into his phone "yeah, it's going to be hard since they want us to pioneer in april.".
of course, i was all ears at this point.
next thing i could pick up over the din of a crowded restaurant was "he has to go to the meetings for a year before he can come back.

But most specifically, accepting the fact of evolution has nothing to do with whether one believes in a higher power.
