Anyone else receive the email from Radiohead for the 2 free extra songs for King of Limbs?
They're pretty good....Supercollider and The Butcher. They said they didn't really fit on the album...but think they could've. Either way...now we have 10 songs instead of 8. Win win.

Name some "great" bands/artists you detest
by keyser soze inmusicians that are considered iconic, that people look at you funny when you say how much you hate them?.
personally, i've never been able to stand ac/dc.
besides the lead singer's whiny, annoying voice that sounds like nails on a chalk board, there's nothing at all to the music.

i became a ministerial servant because they appointed me without consultation or notice.
Aussie Oz: Well what a gift that was! Really though…what an odd thing to do, never heard of that happening. Did you question them about it?
I hated when brothers back out because if I were able to give it........I wound up doing the talk. Except I hadn't studied or read any of the material myself, so I usually pulled the talk out of my a%$ in the bathroom a few minutes before.
av8orntexas: I remember doing that many times. Well not in bathroom minutes before, but throwing talks together an hour before the meeting. Actually seemed easier that way.
we both joked that it would only have taken me 7 years to do a medical degree !!!
the max: Funny and well sadly true. Think what we could've accomplished if we had all our JW time we wasted back?
In spring 2006 I heard that this same Elder had said they would have to call on me to determine whether I had studied properly with my sons, who had both left the religion by then.
wobble: Whether you had studied properly? Meaning you didn't fully brainwash them. Imagine a human acting on their own accord…how horrible.
just kind of blundered my way up in the ranks by default.
dozy: I like this. Blundered your way up…sounds like a Forrest Gump story in JW world.
I enjoyed the ministry a lot, mainly because I got to talk to people with real opinions and interesting lives.
Millions: Interesting way to view it. I hated field service…stomach was in a knot the whole time. But really, take away the fact we were talking BS to them, it was a chance to meet all kinds of people.
My parents wrote me a card which said, and I quote "this is the only thing that you could have ever done that would make us truly proud of you!"
What Now?: Welcome to the forum. I know that feeling..my parents were the same. What a tragedy it would've been if we become a scientists and found a cure for cancer.
Gilead class 1975
Was New Boy: You had me going there. Was all eager to ask you about Gilead in the year the world was supposed to end.

keyser, keyser....such sacrilege regarding AC/DC! The Back in Black album is a thing of beauty to rock out to. Despite your apostacy regarding AC/DC...I'll play along.
Not sure I'd say I hate these bands, but just not that into them: Rolling Stones (only some early stuff), Rush, The Cure. And they're not iconic, but certainly popular...HATE Nickelback.

Was Jesus a Mighty God In Human Form That Suffered Hematidrosis?
by sabastious inwhy did jesus, the mighty god, anxiously sweat blood as he neared the end of his task?
given all his experience as gods second in command (or god himself depending on what denomination) youd think the experience of dying horribly as a human should be no sweat right?
well according to the story that is as far away from the truth as humanly possible.. .

If I recall correctly, wasn't this condition stated in the WTBS publications at one point? I distinctly remember this coming up...perhaps in the Greatest Man Who Ever Lived book.

one side was just a big "Jesus!" and the other half was for fast food: "Beefy Cheesy Goodness!"
That's a classic.

Do They Still Offer Food At The DCs?
by Low-Key Lysmith into this day, i still can't drink shasta cola or lemon-lime soda.
when i was a kid, you would buy these books of "food tickets".
the tickets were traded for terrible food.

Its been a long time since they did the food service and tickets thing. At least 20 years? I remember it well though...my brother and I would call their burgers "sawdust burgers".
The fruit bag was always a gamble...50/50...sometimes kinda fresh, sometimes brown grapes.

As I said I was simply amused by the comment.
Perhaps asking if you "liked it" was unfair. Considering the type of sisters that embraced that "elder's wife" role, it was their old hen personalities that made it so. And boy, were they a pain the ass! My aunt was one of them...an old hen that thought she ruled the other hens...with her rooster. Bad scene.

Well we sure have a lot of ex-AllStars on here. Missionaries, elders, reg. pioneers, MS, aux. pioneers...and Super Sisters. I was in the minor leagues in comparison.
One thing seems clear...the "higher" you went no one seems to have enjoyed it or revelled in it. As morbidz said "I absolutely DESPISED the attention I got being a pioneer"...or jam as a young elder "Did not care for the status, did not care for the thought that people families are govern by what I tell them."
I'd say my feeling of accomplishment was tied to the social pressures. Plus my "best" work as a JW was in my teens...was desperate for parental approval.
Another lowly creature without a penis here...
LOL jamie.
