Are there any? Musicians that are considered iconic, that people look at you funny when you say how much you hate them?

Personally, I've never been able to stand AC/DC. I don't get it. Besides the lead singer's whiny, annoying voice that sounds like nails on a chalk board, there's nothing at all to the music. It's interchangeable from song to song. Whenever a song of theirs comes on the radio, it takes me a while to identify it, because it's the same three chords every time.

Bruce sprinstein: A master marketer, has a very precise/tight sound. Has no soul.

I like some of Springsteen's earlier stuff, but he's a better songwriter than vocalist, IMO. He's pretty horrible live.

keyser, keyser....such sacrilege regarding AC/DC! The Back in Black album is a thing of beauty to rock out to. Despite your apostacy regarding AC/DC...I'll play along.

Not sure I'd say I hate these bands, but just not that into them: Rolling Stones (only some early stuff), Rush, The Cure. And they're not iconic, but certainly popular...HATE Nickelback.

I hate "pop country". The "New Nashville". whatever you want to call it, I call it fake.

Too many artists/bands to name that I hate.

    To quote HankIII:

Well I think I'd rather eat the barrel,
    Of a double-barrel loaded shotgun,
Than to hear that shit they call pop-country music,
    On ninety-eight-point-one.
Just so you know, so it's it's set in stone,
Kid Rock don't come from where I come from:
Yeah, it's true, he's a Yank, he ain't no son of Hank:
If you even thought so, god-damn, you're fucking dumb.

it's not that i hate them, but i find them way overrated. or in other words: they sell a lot of $hit because they had a few good songs:

    red hot chili peppers

    u2

as to ac/dc, went on one of their concerts, they rock! but i do understand that some find it rather plain... maybe because it's plain old rock.

I agree with you on the AC/DC thing. Every song sounds exactly the same, and bad, at that.

KISS is another band that I could never understand. Talentless hacks.

I reserve special hatred for the Cranberries. My God. Someone stuff a sock into that whiny Irish woman's pie hole.

The whole Brittney/Aguilera/J-Lo/Lady Gag Gag debacle. Who thought up this ridiculous horse sh*t?

Nickelback, Godsmack, Creed, Linkin Park. All the same canned garbage.

Disturbed..The "Talent Scout" that "discovered" these wastes of airwaves should be fired...and shot.

The band that U2 has become since The Joshua Tree is an embarrassment. What happened?

Hip Hop & rap in general. This is the audible equivalent for me as having a frozen dish towel pulled through my urethra. You cant spell "C-R-A-P" without "R-A-P".

I know I'm going to get flamed with this one, but what's the big deal with the Beatles? I mean, they're OK, I guess. Nothing special and actually kind of silly.

The Grateful Dead? No thanks. These "Jam Bands", like Phish, too. I just don't get it. Silly hippie, jam is for toast.

OK. I'm done. For now. Shouldn't have got me started.
