Hey velour, hang in there...I know it can be tough at times with that kind of hurt. You're certainly not alone in feeling that way. A few weeks back I was thinking the same sort of thing about my father...on this thread.

I miss my dad and I can't stop crying about it
by Velour inso recently, i've had this urge to write to my father.
i couldn't quite pinpoint why i would try when i know he wouldn't read it and we aren't even that close.. over the years, before i left, my father and i could not relate to each other and we quit trying.
he was always so busy writting and preparing for talks.

Well look what the cat dragged in....Cheez! Welcome back sir. Good to hear things are going good for you and the family. Your thoughts about the forum and having your mind stuck on the JW world ring true. Sounds like you're making the right decision to move on. I wish you the best. And yes, your trail of posts and threads will help many I'm sure. Such as....don't leave your iPhone in the room with 3 elders while it is recording!
To show you were missed....check out this thread: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/211618/1/APB-for-SBC-anyone-seen-Cheez
Also, check your inbox later for a PM. At work right now but will send one later....for whenever you're back and have time to read it.
Stay classy, Cheez.

Belief in God: What were the difficult aspects and questions you had.

Interesting Sab. Lots to say about it but perhaps the best thing is to echo what Paralipomenon said...I'm glad it changed your life for the better too. Really that's all that matters.
Couple quick follow-ups...you didn't address the poker incident. Far as I recall that occurred before the bath incident, so do you consider the poker one a "reaching out" event from god...one of the miracles?
And...you called yourself a deist earlier. Isn't deism belief in a supreme being that does not intervene in human affairs? Speaking of an experience of direct contact with god sounds more like theism.

To Our Canadian Neighbors
by snowbird ini learned about y'all in the second grade, and fell in love with your beautiful land.. my geography book was filled with pictures of your wheat fields, lakes, rivers, and smiling people.. one of the ancestors, an aunt of hank aaron, used to regale us with wonderful stories of her visits to your country: the cleanliness, the warmth and friendliness of the people, and the lack of overt racial prejudice.. later on, i read about the underground railroad.
my heart swelled with admiration and respect as i found out how your country welcomed fugitive slaves.. my resolve is to visit y'all one of these fine days and see for myself what i've been told.
my little jw daughter and her dad have been there, and they both agree that canada is a land of freedom and opportunity.. to the canucks on this here forum, i salute you, as you only reinforce what i've been told about y'all.

We have lots of maritimers where I live and I can hardly understand them.
Figured it was a east thing, furthest east I've been is Quebec City. East coast Canada/US = bucket list.
hahaha, in what setting?
She'll say "Buddy wants a delivery today"
Yeah good point talesin. And palm...LOL I know exactly what you mean. Worked with a Newfie for a year and it was sooo damn confusing. He'd say "Hey Buddy...pass me that machine there." Huh? More specific please. Ah...the screwdriver. "Thanks buddy." Went like that, everytime.
But he never really said "aboot"...it was close enough though I guess.

So how about that 'aboot'? I don't think I've ever heard a Cdn say it like that. Where in Canada do we talk like that...east perhaps?

Is immorality escalating?
by jworld ini got the convention update from my mom, who attended this past weekend.
sounds like the society made the claim that immorality is escalating at a faster clip.
is that true?

No I don't think so.
As for Outlaw's comment, I agree. For what the Dubs consider immorality, I've seen more immorality while a JW than I have out in the "world". I'd say because its a closed, tight inner-society with restrictive rules of conduct. Being taught "morals" based on fear of punishment and hope for reward are not the building blocks for true morality.
