  Hypocricy of JW stance on shunning those disfellowshipped from the congregation?

  i was doing some research on an tangentally related topic when i came across this gem, from the 7/1/1986 watchtower, in a paragraph discussing the cost of integrity:.

  certainly when a person becomes a christian witness of jehovah, he suddenly finds out who are his true friends.

  some will perhaps shun or boycott him because he has abandoned his former religion, even though they themselves do not practice any religion properly.

  Best way to step down from being a servant

  hey i'm wondering if anyone can give some good advice on how to step down in the safest way.. i have served as an ms for a number of years, but can't do it anymore.

  i know too much i want to fade in the future when i get some family things straightened out.

  i can't move right now so that's out unfortunately.. what should i tell the body?

  i was just thinking how thankful i am that i took a typing course in school years ago.

  i would think it has to be very difficult posting on a board like this hunting and pecking all the time.

  so how fast can you type?

  are any active JW's blood donors?--or is this a DFing offence?

  i ask this because there was a programme on the BBC ( UK )--a few minutes ago.

  its not a stupid question--i'm wondering what replies this will receive.

  as an aside---i could never understand why some JW's, needing an urgent - life saving transfusion---didnt just go-ahead--then at some future date express remorse & ask for forgiveness. how many elders would then still DF such a percon?

  isn't that pretty much the end of a conversation with a jw?.

  honestly, now that i think about it, what is the difference between judgment day(armaggedon) and death?.

  just curious to see how my friends and relatives would react if i responded that way... .

  Funniest Thing to happen during a meeting?

  i am sure all of us have laughed at something that happened at the kingdom hall or assembly.. the first one i can think of is a brother giving a talk on voting and saying " why is it that men sit iin pubs and discuss how bad the economy is and the cost of everything and yet when the 'erection" (election) comes up they never do anything about it.. my brother in his best beavis n butthead voioce said " huh huh he said erection".

  we sat for the next 45 mins trying hard not to laugh.. of course, i got the look from the elders and the talk about not laughing.. .

  back in the late 60's

  one of the jamaican brothers (lovely man ) always over-ran his talk-time--had been counselled for it repeatedly
