A long long time ago my Grandmother heard a knock at the door ....
by gorgia inhi everyone; this is my first post.
yes, a long long time ago my grandmother, freshly immigrated from post-war england to rural australia, waiting for months for her husband to follow, with only her baby for company, heard a knock at the door.
she opened it and there were two witnesses, who, after hearing how she'd just been crying in the kitchen, begging god for a friend, probably couldn't have believed their luck.

my late mother was door-stepped when i was about 9 years old----1957. she had recently lost a badly disabled 4 year old child. my dad followed her into the cult--hes still in--at 91--and now living with me--i'm all hes got: apart from his grandchildren--who havent contacted him in years--in spite of being members ( 2 of them )---& he wont talk to the 3rd--who is now d/f. happy families--not.
my dads friend--an elder--called at my house to see him yesterday---just before he left--he asked me when i was coming back into "THE TRUTH ". i smiled--said i was happy to be an atheist--so his religion is meaningless to me.

CO Disfellowshipped in UK
by konceptual99 inso, i have it on very good authority that a co has recently been disfellowshipped in the uk.
he has just finished serving the north west london area.
i don't know any details but perhaps there is someone who does know what happened.

Dont you think that those 60s - mid 70s were happy days for the young witlesses?
Everything was certain, the flip flops hadnt got too alarming, we could have fun, congo parties, trips and rambling.
we were just teenage kids trying to cope with 2 standards: it was always a compromise between the religion and the world. often the edges were blurred.
after the circuit assemblies--in birmingham england UK we had sunday night parties.---often in a penthouse flat in an office block in the center of the city---one of the lads parents were the caretakers---we all donated money to give to the non-jw dad to take the jw mum out for the evening.
it was a case of anything goes. but--tales got told and there were big rows afterwards.
but they were happy days for me--i never doubted the religion then---after all--it had to be the truth--because we were in it !!!!

i did read elsewhere that ron drage was closely connected to a guy that was a pedo--cant recall the name--but it was a big case.
i also read that drage was eeking out his days at mill hill

this is only my opinion:
the circuit servants--as we called them then--seemed very smart types--and i dont mean well dressed. they may have put in a few years working for peanuts--but they all had a lot of family wonga to fall back on.
then there was that district servant--ron drage--had an american wife. what a poseur he was--i remember him giving an assembly talk in a dinner suit--black bow tie job.
i knew personally one even higher up the ranks who gave it all up to come to the i o wight to take care of his wifes elderly mother. he bought a small hotel to live off. his parents had an enormous place.
