At what age can a JW be baptised in the UK?
by jwfacts ini just received an email from an unbaptised publisher that made the following comment;.
in the uk the age of consent by law for a child is 16 and only then can they be baptized of their own free will.
is anyone aware of jws that have been baptised younger than 16 in the uk?.

ive been mac in my family for years--some work colleague added the big. i think he took a peek in the rest-room.
i also tried to start a membership as stan livedeath--and like a smartass went to gravatar and uploaded an avatar--but put it in the wrong place.
so---this avatar shouldnt really be here.
stan livedeath is my favourite mythical character--you know exactly where you are with him. not like his silly rival.

Should I try to get my parents out?
by Gabriel_Walker inhi everyone.. i'm guessing you get this a lot, but i have to ask anyway.. first some context.. i'm 25, i was raised in the "truth" but i never got baptized, i haven't been in a kingdom's hall in 6 years, i live with my parents and we have a good relationship.. my dad doesn't have jw relatives, my mom has a few though and both have wordly friends.. so, should i try it?
if you need more information just ask.. ps: english is not my first language so please forgive any gramatical or spelling mistakes you may find, also corrections are greatly apretiated.. pps: if this the wrong section please accept my apologies and move the thread..

hi Gabriel-Walker--welcome to jwn. your use of English is just fine--a lot better than my attempt at whatever language yours is.

What happens before a Judicial Committee?
by jw07 ini can't get into much detail, but i might have been caught doing something natural and fun that the gb would have a fit over.
(i'm not sure at this point if i was seen).
the elders have called a meeting of the entire body tonight, which is strange since they usually meet on weekends.. i've been worrying and sweating like crazy since then, which i think is the programmed jw guilt switch in my mind going off like crazy.. what i want to know is:.

if you ladies think you had it hard--what about us guys---can you begin to imagine what its like giving a public talk---or a talk at an assembly---?? you just have to switch your mind off and just talk on auto-pilot.
and--as for the praying out loud--from the platform--??? high up there in the vomit-inducing stakes.

Biggest issue effecting apostates
by joe134cd ini got to thinking today & you know what i think the single biggest issue effecting apostates are.
its they cannot unite and this is what gives the watchtower the upper hand.
what needs to happen (and quite honestly i don't think it will)they all have to come under one common body.
-
bigmac
why?
being an "apostate" isnt a religion---its just a label some of us were given when we walked away of our own free will.

Are you a new viewer of this forum?
by punkofnice ini'd be interested to hear from you.. i know at first there is the paranoia that the elders will find you out if you have a user id here.
i only believe this is the case if you leave your pc in plain sight unattended, give out your password, tell someone what you are 'researching'or give your real name and location in a thread or gravatar.. cut to the chase.. what brought you here?.
anyone here because of the new 'generation' 'new light'?.

WT SHUNNING POLICY: What has it done, or could it do to you?
by flipper inhi y'all, this is mrs. flipper.
please share your experiences with this, or possible consequences of being outed.. this recent controversy and resulting arguments all stem from people being outed - possibly losing friends and family because most jw's will blindly follow the watchtower's rules to shun them.. among people i know and experiences read here, the grief and loss caused by this is terrible, and maybe now is a good time to put up some experiences here, and put the focus on the worst villians of all - wt policymakers..
