Both Faith in Action 1 and 2 look beautiful to any active and believing JW's but to us, its a bunch of watered down reactments and a lot of omitting, double standards, and ramblings of faithful and discreet members who are there last leg literally (think Ted Jaracz and John Barr). It bascially gives a fairy tale account of their history. They leave a lot out, giving the public the illusion of a flawless and faultless organization.

Jehovah's Witnesses - Faith In Action Part 2 - thoughts?
by Captain Obvious inmost of us remember the thread last month about the video that was supposed to be watched in prep for discussion at the meeting.
well at the end of this month, there is a discussion on part 2. .
part 1 had at least that one big glaring lie, about what the bible students were expecting in 1914. it then went on in the usual fashion, blaming the students themselves for having made up their own expectations.... .

A Brief History of Racism in Watchtower Publications
by cedars ini've just completed a lengthy article on the history of racism in the society's publications.
many people (including myself, until recently) aren't aware that the society's early publications were brimming with racist rhetoric, and this only calmed down as the public mood towards racism changed, most notably with the civil rights movement in the 50s/60s.. a few "headliners" from the article are:.
russell segregated blacks from whites for viewings of the photodramarussell believed that the skin of a black man would turn white during the millennial kingdomunder russell, the society's publications portrayed the black races as "degraded" and the white race as "superior"rutherford viewed the blacks as a "race of servants", and spoke of "sobering the southern negro" in an article against prohibitionunder rutherford, the golden age slammed uncle tom's cabin (a work that helped end slavery) as being "the work of satan"; the same article branded spaniards a "backwards race"rutherford accused "jewish business men" of "oppressing the peoples of many nations"in 1929 the golden age (acknowledged by the society as essentially the same magazine as the modern awake!

@ Alfred, I saw that. I always wondered why they put that in there.
@ Cedars, My parents are black (african american) Jehovah's Witnesses and most black JW's wouldnt even care about what you just posted. There is so much proof that the watchtower has a racist history, but its sad that most witnesses of color would take it with a grain of salt. SMH.

I guess its not that I hate JW's in general but its their whole attitude of 'I'm the choosen christian, I'm better then those christians, were JW's, were different, blah blah blah. Its all christianity when your done talking, and christianity (FOR THE MOST PART) is all fucked up in general. You might have your chruches that are doing some good, but when you get to the root of all of it, its all fucked up. For example, my mother flat out REFUSED to go to my friend's chruch this past weekend for a wedding, because she has standards and doesnt want to get caught up in christidom. How DARE she judge my friend just because she's not a j-dub. But if a Jehovah's Witness has a wedding, of course, non-J-dubs aka worldly people have to put there feelings aside to go to their weddings!!!
LOL @ the title of thread and lol @ the first post.

I dreamed I went to Heaven.....
by Phizzy inand there, seated on a golden throne was jehovah, not frightening at all, very impressive but benign looking, with a pleasant smile, he said "would you like to ask me anything?".
it flashed through my mind that i would ask him the question about allowing evil, but i thought i might not get too long to question so i said : .
"are you the supreme being ?".

How The Watchtower Organization Is Like Walmart To Their Employees!
by Bubblegum Apotheosis inon your very first day on the job with walmart, you will be provided with information on obtaining "food stamps" access to "medicaid" because you are young and won't need to make more than minimum wage, you won't qualify for all those great government bennies if we pay you more!.
the watchtower tells their youth and followers of all ages, to work the least, so you can spend all your time in field service.
most jobs that require little input pay close to nothing, don't provide health coverage or any kind of retirement plan.

Does God need humans and their organisations to speak for him?
by Fernando inis god's word or message.
(the multi-ingredient "unabridged gospel" or "good news").
which is hidden in plain sight throughout scripture.

There is no way that God needs any organization to speak for him (I'm agnostic) but if god is real he wouldnt need a spec of dust human like me to speak for him. Of course I'm wrong (LOL).

In search of a better word...
by okage inmy jw brother-in-law is 32. he admitted to me the other day he's been inactive since 1989 (pretty much right after baptism).
he stopped going to the meetings in 2003, and acknowledges he is a fader.. his reason for not attending the meetings was the lack of passion for jehovah exhibited by the elders and the brothers and sisters.
he attended four different congregations in the fort worth/haltom city area of texas.

Yeah you do have a lot of inactive ones who still believe in jehovah and the watchtower per say, but they just dont like the congregation and the people in the congo's etc. I'm dealing with that with a girl that I grew up with at the hall that I just recently reconnected with.
