One more positive thing, it makes you immune to cults.

It's very simple. If you crap enough, at least one turd will look like Elvis. If there is a million to one chance, just take a million dumps, et voila! Elvis.

Perhaps these new books were not printed on a printing press but on a new spiffy "digital press", allowing the GB to insert, remove or move around certain phrases or seemingly unimportant words in the text, thereby being able to uniquely identify each individual book and elder, pinpointing who is leaking the book to teh interwebs.
...
Or did I just give them a terrible idea?

Lady Viola, it was very moving to read your post (BTW, we know each other on PC.. I live very nearby you). I have been experiencing a wide range of emotions too, ending in depression. I was also one of the few who read the proclaimers book. At the time I was amazed at how dim the light was at the beginning of the last century. I never made the connection that this was supposed to be the time Jesus chose the faithful and discrete slave.
Right now I'm trying to find ways to battle my depression. It's not nice to think about everything in a very negative way, even about positive things like going away on holiday and moving to a better house. Don't know how to get out of it yet.
I hope you find a way to feel comfortable with your life again!
I wonder about your guilt.. is it because you feel like you are lying or betraying those people? Or some other reason? I feel more like a victim than someone who is guilty of something.
Leolaia: That quote from the insight book is from some really really old christian book and is based on a very outdated understanding of biology. Ridiculous that this is still their official view. Remember the childish dvd on Noah's time? Doesn't go into the issue at all. They don't want to touch this issue because they know it is a shitstorm waiting to happen.

Thanks all.. as most of the posts are leaning towards fading I'm beginning to realize the benefits it will bring me.
A direct confrontation would be fun, and if I was without family or friends in the faith, it wouldn't have any dire consequences either.
But it would also be very hard for my wife if I got DF'd, she would not be able to have any social interaction with me and her friends / family anymore.

Their argument boils down to this: It's really complex! So it could never have randomly sprung into existence.
And they are right, life is very complex, and it hasn't sprung into existence by mere chance. Like a snowflake however, the building blocks of life have formed because the circumstances were right. Then it took millions of years to get where we are today.
If evolution is not real, than how have the few hundred of animals in Noah's Ark grown into the millions of species we find today? You can't have it both ways!

For born ins- what tipped you off it was wrong
by teela(2) inat a young age i remember watching tv and commenting why is the red cross always helping people and we don't.
the second big one is if the witnesses only started up in 1890 - 1900 did jehovah not have anyone else doing the preaching work?.
as a child i don't think we think about theological problems so what tipped you off?

I did not buy their flawed reasoning of inconsistent bible verses. I thought I could do better, studied my ass off, found nothing. Specifically:
- The flood and Noah's Ark
- Jacob tricking Esau and his dad
- Judah and Tamar getting it on
- Inheritable sin
- God not stopping Cain when he killed Abel
- Animals getting killed in the flood
- Luke 16 vivid description of suffering in a nonexistent hell, from the greatest teacher that ever lived
- The memorial of Jesus' death - most time spent explaining why we should NOT partake of the symbols.. compare it with Jesus' example in the bible
These were all issues that bothered me while I was still in. Now I don't believe anything anymore.

Thanks for your welcome everybody!
FreeAtLast1914: I hope I can one day have that experience too!
Jam: She would choose the ORG
Steve2: There is a constant flux in decline and growth, one year its -1% decline, the next year it is 1% growth. Most newcomers are either born-in or are immigrants. The biggest growth is in foreign language congregations. I believe Belgium and The Netherlands are the most liberal JW countries on Earth. For example, one of the elders in our congregation plays Diablo II and burns a lot of illegal software. Another elder took his children to a movie about vampires. Smurfs were never an issue. Most have seen movies like the Lord of the Rings. R-rated movies are not an issue at all. When you are out in Field Service, everybody respectfully declines to talk to you.
I hope I can fade without losing my wife and that I can eventually show her the truth about the truth.
