you ever remember poking fun about other religions with your jw associates?.

i do.. now that i am out i find it funny and very ironic that i made fun of such "absurd" beliefs.. here is a list of the top of my head that i used to believe:.

1. that 144,000 people will taken from the earth at random and appointed a immortal kings and priests in heaven.

That God was going to kill billions of people including my husband,friends and non jw family and only save jehovahs witnesses.

That a few men in brooklyn could determine my whole life and choices because they were 'inspired' by God.

the subject has come up in my reincarnation thread and i think its worthy of its own.. when i saw the movie "rain man", what amazed me the most about what raymond was able to do (i.e., counting the number of matches in a matchbox after a glance, or memorizing all the names and numbers in a large phone book in a matter of minutes) was that it proves that a human mind is capable of performing the functions of a computer and more.

why then, do we not a: all have these supercomputer abilities, and b., why is an autistic person lacking in other areas such as social skills?

my second son was born in 1992 with a lipoma on his tail bone which was also wrapped around his spinal cord.

My son had a speech delay also,not as significant as some but he didnt start speaking properly until age 41/2-5.

I thought he would get a diagnosis of high functioning autism because of this,but they diagnosed aspergers as he has the obssesion aspect of it,plus his educational report and high iq suggest aspergers.

Do You Think It's Improper To Make Fun Of The Name "Jehovah"?

or they'll say instead of jehovah's witnesses, "hovies"....etc.. do you think that it's appropriate?.

It depends on how you feel about God i suppose.

And since it was the wts that added the name jehovah to the new testament,it was them that raised its signifigance to us,and since ive left them and there teachings are bullshit i dont find it offensive when people say those things.!

i received an anonymous email over at ex-jw.com that had an attached legal filing.

the first couple of pages seemed to be standard legal filings, but the rest of the pages looked like standard typed documentation (not in numbered double-spaced legal format.

) i'm not quite sure what to make of it, so wonder if anyone here has heard of it.

Autism

My son has aspergers syndrome,sensory processing disorder and ADD.And possibly fibromyalgia and bipolar/childhood depression(although this could be a result of the abuse he suffered in the KH)

My nephew has aspergers,sensory processing disorder ADD and dyspraxia and fibromyalgia.

I suffer from fibromyalgia.I think the gene that causes autism could be the same gene that causes fibro.

Alot of people in our family have certain traits if aspergers but not significant enough to be diagnosed.

I strongly think it is genetic.with outside factors(vaccines,environmental issues etc) which makes it more severe in some cases.There is positive to it also,my son is extremely intelligent and has an iq in the 130's,top of his school and he is six.It breaks my heart to see him around other kids his age as he cannot relate to them,or get on with them on any level.

There was a comment made on the reincarnation thread saying video games and tv should be considered regarding autism.I agree that these dont help ANY children if used too often and for too long,But to think these things can cause autism is in my opinion silly!

My son told the po in my congregation what was happening to him months before i found out...what did he do?NOTHING he done his own little investigations,never reported it to the police,or even me!!

He will be in court soon to pay for what he did!!

I seriously think the autism question needs investigation about, not chemicals, but television watching and video games. This sort of research is not going to be popular with corporations.

Metraton this was a very ignorant statement which is completely untrue.Autism spectrum disorders are identifiable from a very young age,even from 6 months old.Well before a child could play computer games or watch telly.Maybe you should research topics before you state such statements like this.My boy has aspergers and these kind of statements really make my blood boil.It is very likely a genetic disorder.NOTHING to do with television or video games!!
