reading the posts about the 2011-7-15 watchtower about mentally retarded apostates i foresee the following scenario:.
1. congregational elders trying to get grip on non regular publishers and inactive witnesses.. 2. the good ones read in the watchtower that apostates are to find in the local congregation.
3. inactives like me (i hate this name, but i use their language), and liberal witness like me, will be hunted, .
I'm wondering if my paranoias over what local dubbies might want to do about this are just that... paranoia. I'm hoping that it's a case of "out of sight, out of mind" when it comes to my predicament. I have an out of town brother-in-law who's probably loading his gun, though. This likely would be the ammo he needs to keep me out of his family's life...

do you consider being an exjw a hindrance to dating?
for example, do you find it difficult to bring up in conversation, lest you get stared at as if you have 2 heads or something?
or you might find it difficult to explain why you've had little sexual experience in the past?.
I'm open to dating on either side of the fence, XJW or no. That being said, I'll have to be at least somewhat picky in either case.
If it's an XJW, I would really need her to be determined to NEVER go back. The day she gets that "attack of conscience" is the day I turn my back and leave.
If it's a non-JW, I would need her to be very understanding of where I came from. Demanding, high-maintenance social climbers are the first to be struck off my list.
At this point, I'm leaning towards dating XJWs... there are a surprising number of eligible singles among them. It's quite a community.

it's sort of funny how the internet has turned into the bugaboo of the governing body's existence.
imagine the nerve of people masquerading as ip addresses, with no congregation secretary to track back to!.
of course, "apostates/former jw's" have a view of the internet that sometimes isn't all to realistic either.
I admit it... I generally don't get into AT Jeff's threads much. That being said, this is an excellent post which I profoundly agree with. The internet is just a tool and it in of itself won't bring down any organization. The hubris of some apostates is astounding indeed. If the WT$ is going to collapse, it will do so on its own accord considering the amount of organizational dry rot that is already there. All that needs to be done on anyone's part here in internet land is to keep spreading the word and exposing the lies instead of fabricating sensationalisms. Like any religion, though, the WT$ will never completely evaporate... at worst it'll just change form and/or downsize...

i've just ordered something from a bizness up in canadia, and the guy is telling me delivery may be slow because the canadian post office is on "partial" strike.
is he telling me the truth, or is he a hoser?

i know everyone's situation is different.
and no matter what age one is when they finally say enough of the religion,it's difficult.. but,from what i have observed among my friends,it appears that those who left in their teens/early 20's fare a bit better.. my two close friends who were disfellowshipped in their teens/early twenties,seemed to do fairly well with the transition.
of course,i know they went through a great deal of pain to get where they are today.
As Jamie said, you're lovely, intelligent, witty and sweet. Anything that we have spent our lives at previously is just water under the bridge and gone forever. There's no fixing the past. We can only try to work out a better future for ourselves with what time we have left. We're staring down the second half of our lives here. Let's not waste any more time looking back at what might have been. Cheers to you for at least waking up to what's real way before retirement age. Take care of you...

I admit it: for a while I was on the razor edge of alcoholism out of sheer loneliness and boredom. Thankfully I was able to pull myself back from the brink and I'm back to a more healthy social drinking regimen. I didn't try any other chemicals, legal or not...
