  Should a DF'd person lie to get reinstated?

  suppose someone is wrongfully disfellowshipped and is unable to appeal successfully.

  suppose he still believes in the watchtower society and tries to get reinstated as soon as possible.

  imagine that the elders want to make sure that he is repentant by insisting that he shows remorse for what he is accused of doing.

  According to JW think, Jehovah knows your every thought and inclination so if you lie about your true motives you'll get struck down like Ananias and Sapphira during the big A. Naw! I don't believe in that shit anymore. Did you think I was serious?

  I gotta repeat the question: Why the hell would anyone want back in? JW's are a really mentally ill bunch. Even if you're getting back in just to spy for kicks, it's not good for you. The emotionally toxic environment will send you back into the hell hole of depression if you were there before. That's why I left. The shunning, gossip, lies and elders putting it over you would eventually make you sick. No point in it!

  At least I'm fading out and I still have my family. I'm still wondering how long it will be before MY number comes up and I get that phone call...

  i never understood why df'd ones would treat other df'd ones like crap.

  (after all, they could talk to each other).

  but many would "treat" other disfellowshipped just like the witnesses would.

  I'm only a fader here but I'm wondering if my number will be up someday... To all the DFed and other XJW's, the JW's teachings are hard to get out of their heads. I think it probably is true that DFs are told not to talk to other DFs. It's kinda this hope that maybe they'll be able to worm their way back in and talking to other DFs spoils their chances.

  When you're a DF, you still have the JW crap firmly lodged in the back of your mind. You didn't get to leave on your own terms. You think that you're still a good person and you're conditioned to think that DFs and apostates are "evil" and you don't want to be "contaminated" by their "bad juju" somehow. It's all in the mind control thing. Also, XJW's aren't organized in any real sense of the word. We don't make any organized effort to contact the newly DFed and help them see that going back is not a good thing and that there is another way.

  But I agree, minimus, that really, why should we care? Why play by the rules of the borg?

  I don't know if this is funny at all but...

  When I was about 9 and my sister was 7 we were both sent to a door by ourselves and a middle aged lady answered. I was halfway through my standard magazine presentation when the lady screamed at us and said: "SHOVE THOSE MAGAZINES UP YOUR BUM AND DON'T EVER COME BACK HERE AGAIN!" What a terrible thing to say to a couple of cute little kids! As we were leaving my sister burst into tears and for some bizarre reason I just started laughing! A nervous reaction I suppose. I'm sure everyone up and down the street heard the yelling.

  I admit that I have an off the wall, bizarre, morbid, twisted sense of humor that most people just don't get.

  since da'ing my mother has always sorta kept in contact with me...until recently.. three years ago i started dating a guy, my bio father and step mother did not approve of.

  I can relate.

  I haven't seen or spoken to anyone in my cong for over a year an a half but I'm still terrified of losing my mom, sisters and bros-in-law (my dad never believed). I'm lucky all family lives out of town. One nasty rumor or rat-out and I'm screwed, right? I'm trying to build outside friendships and social network but it's slow going. If I ever dare date outside of the borg I'm sure I'll never hear the end of it. Gonna have to, though. I'm never going back. Don't you either. If your mom is emotionally toxic, don't bother seeking her, move on.

  I think that it would only be right to learn the language of the country one now lives in. Hence if I lived in Mexico, I should learn Spanish. If I live in the UK, Canada, U.S., Austrailia, or New Zealand then I should learn English. I should also learn the language required by my job, so if I was a airline pilot, then I should learn English.

  Damn straight! Furthermore, if someone refuses to learn english or whatever the official language is, they are cutting themselves off from opportunuties to educate themselves, to better themselves, to be more productive members of society. Maybe you can't force it on everybody but there should be a more agressive stance taken on this by the authorities of whatever country.

  They blend their own culture with that of the locals and create an entirely new culture. A little bit old world, a little bit new world...

  That's all fine and good but there's something insidious about it. When these people collect in large communities, they aren't just refusing to learn and speak english, many are refusing to adopt the customs, social mores and to fully adopt the laws of their new country. This leads to them often refusing to leave behind the seriously negative parts of their culture. (Pheh! So much for the new.) This then leads them to taking the law into their own hands according to their own customs and refusing to cooperate with the authorities. I've seen too much violence and familial abuses of power because of this. This also is often an opportunity for organized crime to gain a foothold. It's not as harmless as you think.

  I don't live in the US, I live in places north if ya know what I mean.

  My $0.02: Whatever place you move permanently move to, you should learn the official language/s. I think it's extremely disrespectful to the established citizens of the country you immigrate to if you refuse to learn their tongue. I see it in my neck of the woods, large populations of immigrants living in their own ghettos, refusing to learn english, staking out a piece of my country and making it the same as place they left, no english signage whatsoever. When I visit these places it chills me to the bone, it feels like I'm not in my own country anymore. If you move to a new country and you want things to be exactly the same as the country you left, WHY MOVE AT ALL?

  If anyone calls me a racist/xenophobe over this, f%@# you! You don't know what you're talking about! My parents are immigrants.
