Shun Run 2014: Show Courage, Don't Shun

our third annual shun run will be held again at 10am at papago park, tempe, az on saturday, april 12th.

this is a low-key public event that all who wish to see an end to organizational-induced shunning can join in.

lecture room on floor 4 at 2:00pm.. as part of this event, i write a letter to sdb:ssy, the otherwise anonymous jw author who informed me about the df'ing announcement in my case.

Been through so much!

its been a while that i came here due to so many ups and downs emotionally.. :(.

crazy that the family is so divided now that we cannot sit and talk (even though we pretend while attending meetings).

all i can think is this line from hotel california - "you can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave"... love the family so much that dont feel like hurting them.. this is killing me.. regards, miss confused!.

I'm sorry that you feel trapped MissConfused. Can you make more non-JW friends? Can you write about what your family is so divided about and whose opinion do you care about the most?

I know that meetings are boring and mind numbing, so what are your options for missing meetings? Have you considered getting a better education/training/career that would conflict with attending all the meetings? What hobbies/interest do you have that you could think about during meetings or need to skip one or two meetings a month?

JW parents are CRAZY

hello again, for those who don't know me i'm a 15 year old boy.

and recently my mom is displaying symptoms of demensia, she left the stove on today and she yells at us for watching commercials on t.v that are "demonic" because today there was a commercial on television for the new 300 movie and she started yelling at my sister to turn it off, and then i was listening to coldplay as a playlist while doing my school work and she started yelling at me to turn the demonic music off.

she says "demonic" this "demonic" that.

Hi Demokan, I'm sorry about your family situation. It sucks!! I know that you temporarily feel good by swearing to your mother and/or sister,but would you be willing to use more effective long-term methods?

When your mother starts asking crazy, ask her for permission to go to your room. When you go to your room, listen to what music you like and chill. It is more important to get away from your mother when she is acting crazy than being right. If your mother cannot behave like an adult, then you have to.

hamsterbait - The government in ukraine has asked Russia to come in, unlike the governments in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Venezuela,Ecuador, Panama, Grenada.

Hi Hamsterbait, Don't you mean the newly-elected Crimean leader asked for Russia's help and not the Ukrainian government which was recently formed within the last two weeks. Also, the US has never invaded Venezuela nor Ecuador, and only provided air support to Afganistan, and some air support to Libyan rebels.

I do agree that US government officials should stop making public comments like President Obama has made that will only irritate the Russians. It would be much better for the USA to support UN peace keeping efforts and to provide logistical support to news organizations and private citizens to monitor Russian military activity. It would be much better to post videos on the web so that Russians could learn what their government is doing without being filtered by the Russian government.

I don't like when governments, organizations, nor people use information control, false information, coercion, or spin doctoring to victimize other people for their benefit.

Litigation is ok for seeking justice, but I would rather politicians change laws to protect children from abuse/molestation.

fulltimestudent - Some wild talk ! May I suggest a bare 30 minutes research into the problem of Ukraine, before starting to post.

Hi fulltimestudent, Can you be a little more specific about what wild talk you are referring to?

What is so wild about the US privately suggesting to the Ukrainian and Russian governments to ask the UN to send Peace Keepers to the Crimea for 90-days or until tensions subside? In 90-days UN supervised elections could be held so that the residents of Crimea could voice their opinion about what they wanted. Of course any referendum should be passed by at least a 2/3 majority of voters to minimize disaffecting tartars and Ukraine ethnic groups.

Considering the vote counting controversy of Russia's 2012 Presidential elections and subsequent opposition to protests/freedom of speech/freedom of the press by Vladmir Putin, wouldn't UN peade keepers do a better job of maintaining peace and security than the Russian Military? If fighting occurs between tartars and Russian troops, it will be too late for the UN to help.

i live in canada and i have income tax receipts from them so i can prove how much i gave them.... anybody ever tried something like that or heard about somebody doing it?

Hi Hortenzie, Go for it!!

After you write/call the WTBTS asking for your money back, you can write to Canada's equivalent of the US Treasury Department and your political representatives to inform them of how the WTBTS treated you. Laws are more likely to be changed when constituents inform their political representatives of their experiences and potential solutions.

Hi alonein321, Are you a Portuguese native speaker? If you are and know of some other bilingual Portuguese-English native speakers, have you thought about translating webpages for www.jwfacts.com?

Translating www.jwfacts.com webpages might help you to reduce your frustrations towards your situation with your wife and to doing something that would help other Portuguese speaking JWs.

Would it help if the Ukranian Government now requested that the UN send peace keepers to the Crimea? Today I wrote a comment to President Barack Obama (www.whitehouse.gov) to privately suggest to the Ukranian and Russian governments that they request UN peace keepers be deployed to the Crimea for 90-days or until tensions reduce, and to stop making public comments that probably will irritate the Russian government.

What are your thoughts?

Welcome alonein321, Do you love your wife? If she would rather divorce you instead of being shun by her JW family, let her go, but do not drive her away by trying to show her TTATT. Also, use birth control with your wife until she loves you more than her following the doctrines of a dangerous cult.

Do NOT show her TTATT. Instead do the following:

Show your wife that you love her. Listen carefully to what she says and watch her body language. Praise her when she critically thinks for herself,
Ask your wife simple questions to learn more about her childhood, what she dreamt about doing as a child, as well as how she feels now. Try to learn how to turn-off her cult persona and how to turn-on her authentic persona. Her authentic persona is your friend, so help it to grow stronger.
Talk to your wife about you getting more education/training to provide a secure financial future for both of you (and that you have reason(s) for missing meetings).
Meet/make more non-Jw friends and help your wife to meet/make more non-JW friends who she will share common interests.
Help your wife to use the internet to research things that she likes such as where she would like to visit on vacations.
Encourage your wife to do non-WTBTS time consuming hobbies that will conflict with going to meetings/assemblies,
Start home bible studies with your wife to show her how the Pharisees and Sadducees used BITE control techniques to victimize Jews and how Jesus Chirst felt about them. DO NOT show your wife how the WTBTS uses BITE control to victimize JWs. Let her come to her own conclusions.

Under no circumstances DA from the WTBTS. DO NOT play by the WTBTS's rules - you will lose!
