i've tried taking the slow, patient approach with my wife.
i believe i first posted here about 13 months ago about my wife.. we've always had good communication and could talk endlessly about philosophy, neuroscience, sociology and then when i learned the ttatt, i clammed up a bit about spiritual things.
i'd always been fairly liberal, suggesting other alternative ideas, but then i told my wife about the un/ngo scandal (i ran across the guardian story doing a talk as an ms, lol!
Hi Flipping El, Can you afford marriage counseling with your wife? If you can and she will, then ask the counselor how you both can make your marriage more loving and fulfilling. It is important to show your wife that you love her whether she is a JW or not.
If your wife will not go to counseling with you, then her cult or authentic persona may be a controlling and manipulative in which case talk with a councelor about your feelings and how to avoid being manipulated. Non-JWs can also be controlling and manipulative. Life is too short to live with a controlling and manipulative person.

so, my wife and i purchased a house about a month ago and recently we met our new neighbors.
they are an older couple.
they are very nice and even brought us cookies.. in conversation they brought up that they were mormons and mentioned how much they loved it.
Hi Theredeemer, I have known Mormons, who are very nice. If they want to talk about religion, tell them how you feel and why.
The best way a Morman can learn that they are in a dangerous cult is for an ex-JW to explain that the WTBTS is a dangerous cult and what are the characteristics of dangerous cults. Let the Mormans draw their own conclusions.

Hi Smart, Anything you do or say that expresses doubts will put you on the CO's and elder's radar. If you have JW family and friends, who you would like to possibly talk to in the future, fade quietly. When JWs ask why you are not attending meetings, just say that you are waiting on Jehovah for guidance and doing Bible research.

i was head over heels for this girl, but when i realized i was in a self destructive cult i realized tieing the knot with her would screw up my future.
this makes me think of the highschool sweethearts i turned down that were worldly.
now she gives me dirty looks whenever our eyes meet a the hall or at gatherings.

Don't worry about the glaring sister. As long as she doesn't want to critically think for herself, she will be happier with an MS or elder.

a while ago laika came to visit.
we went to town and low and behold the jw trolleys were there doing their thing.. we approached the brother and i introduced laika, the brother was polite.
i then went on to tell him that it was too difficult for me to return and be reinstated.

Is Rick Simons retiring? If Simons is retiring, then Irwin Zalkin and his firm would be the better choice.
Also, how many lawsuits has Simons won compared to Zalkin's firm against the Watchtower. It seems that Zalkin has filed more successful lawsuits against the Watchtower than Simons. I count settlements and judgements as wins.

$10 million judgements sounds like easy money to me. If judges like punishing the Watchtower for contempt of court, may be attorneys should learn what the Watchtower is afraid to give to the courts? With numerous opportunities to sue the Watchtower, I would keep asking for the same thing from the Watchtower for every lawsuit with the expectation that judges would peanlize the Watchtower for contempt of court.

due to the fact there are about 27,000 members of this religion that are known pedophiles, and the information about it is kept in a secret database file, i wonder how many lurking jw's as well as others are aware of the severity of this problem?
remember, it's 27,000 pedophiles that they know about.

The ones on the list are only the ones who have been caught and prosecuted.
How many have been covered up or dismissed by the elders because of their rediculous 2-witness rule interpretation?
This may be why the WTBTS was in comtempt of court in California. Attorney Zalkin may have stumbled on to something when he asked the WTBTS for documents or testimony from GB members. In the past Zalkin was willing to settle with the WTBTS. Now he may have a silver bullet!
I wonder how many times the WTBTS would be willing to pay $13.5 million to avoid releasing its files to the courts, instead of working with survivors to heal and to effectively protect children from sexual abuse. At some point it will be more cost effective to protect children than "harbor and protect criminals" (i.e., pedophiles).
