Apostate views?

if a brother is starting to look at material on the internet and starts to have serious doubts about the jw organisation and questions the integrity of the governing body.

what steps would be taken to by the congregation to readjust his thinking.

and also if the congregation is not aware of this but he has confided in an individual how would that individual try to help such a brother?.

Welcome Richard C B, If a congregation really cared about the health and welfare of other JWs instead of blinding following WTBTS's doctrines, JWs would exchange opinions about WTBTS doctrines like the Bereans did in Acts 17:11. Shouldn't the GB be praising JWs for verifying what they were told like Paul did to the Bereans?.

Why trust leaders who use undue influence to manipulate/guilt followers into donating more, doing more, and sacrificing more? According to Mt 11:25-30, I don't believe Jesus Christ wanted his followers to be heavily burdened like the WTBTS's treats JWs.

i've been dating a jw girl for about 4 years and we've recently had a lot of issues with the fact that her family doesn't like that i'm not a jw.

i've been looking into the religion and am interested in it.

but is it wrong to join just so i don't lose her?

Welcome DanielC, If you GF is willing to watch this video Strategic Interactive Approach explained 2003 (1:23:23), your relationship might have a chance of surviving. You should definitely watch the video.

Relationships are difficult even without unnecessary drama. When you marry a person, you are also marrying into their family so carefully consider how much unnecessary drama you are willing to deal with from future in-laws that have shown no interest in meeting you.

i see the pressure this cult is putting on my family.

Hi cookiemaster, I'm sorry that you are feeling angry and hurt. DITTO what other posters wrote about living your life well. However you could spend a couple of hours three or four times a year to write to politicians like I wrote about in Revise Tax Code to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse, feel like you are doing something constructive to educate politicians about how the WTBTS victimizes JWs, and still live an awesome life!

On the other hand if you do want to rise within the organization, make plans that would allow you to accumulate documentation about how the WTBTS converts donated material into donations, flips real estate for a profit by unduly influencing congregations to sell their KH's or AH's and build new ones, deceives older JWs to lend the WTBTS money and then converts it into a donation, or transfers money from the WTBTS of NY to another WTBTS corporation to make it appear that the WTBTS of NY is a charity. Complete an IRS form 13909 and submit it to the IRS as I wrote about in the thread How to Complain to the IRS about Non-Profits .

Stress on young ones

i had a horrible conversation with my 14 year old last night which i regret.

im still in but doubting more and more every day.. she is recently baptized.

she is outgoing and gorgeous and make friends easily, although not so much with the sisters in our hall, who pick her up and drop her again regularly , leaving her out of parties etc but then bringing her back into the circle, dropping her again...and so on.

Hi LHS123, Encouraging your daughter to make more non-JW friends is the best course of action for you. You can also counsel your daughter about the pros and cons of posting on social media and not talking about her non-JW activities with JWs.

Also, I do not feel that the WTBTS doctrines have helped your daughter. How could the WTBTS doctrine of refusing blood help your daughter if she was in a car accident and lost 6 pints of blood? How does refusing to go to college to increase opportunities for her help her? How does avoiding non-JWs to be played like a yo-yo with JWs help your daughter form meaningful relationships? How does pioneering for a printing, print distribution, and real estate property corporation instead of having fun with friends help your daughter?

How has the WTBTS benefited you and your family? I can counter those thought-stopping platitude with how the WTBTS has victimized you and your family with BITE manipulation techniques.

Petition to Revoke Scientology's Tax Exempt Status

fyi, if you feel that scientology's tax-exempt status should be revoked, you can sign a white house petition to revoke its tax-exempt status at https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/revoke-scientologys-tax-exempt-status.. i signed the petition even though i have mixed feelings about this petition.

i would prefer that dangerous cults like scientology be reformed by suspending its tax-exempt status until it makes needed changes and i do not like targeting a specific organization when the whole system should be changed.

on the other hand this type of action may help to promote debate about revising the tax codes in the us.. i do prefer revising the tax code like i wrote about in revise tax code to protect children from sexual abuse .. peace be with you and everyone, who you love,.

enigma1863 - Well it only received a little over 30,000 signatures. I cant believe Going Clear has been seen by more than 5.5 million people and not even 1 percent could sign the petition.

Hi enigma1863, Although I'm disappointed, I am not surprised.

Most people probably believe that Scientology is a dangerous cult, it won't affect them, and only mindless, stupid people join dangerous cults. At least that is how my friends joke about JWs, Scientologists, moonies, etc.

I cannot even inspire ex-JWs who know better that they can help JWs by reading threads like Revise Tax Code to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and How to Complain to the IRS about Non-Profits and becoming politically involved. If exJWs don't care, why should non-JWs?

What if we could bring down the WBTS?

If Jesus Christ were to return tomorrow and expose the WTBTS as not spirit directed and as a dangerous cult, most JWs would behave like the Jews did in the Bible.

IMHO the best way to help JWs (and members of other dangerous organizations) in the USA is to revise the Tax Code for tax-exempt organizations to protect children from sexual abuse, prohibit using and promoting undue influence, and increase transparency and accountability. Lawsuits will not significantly impact the WTBTS. The WTBTS will just squeeze JWs for more donations. On April 13, 2015, the California 1st District Appellate Court established a policy that religious organizations do not have a duty to warn members about pedophiles, even though an organization's practices protect and enable predators, short-circuits the prosecution of predators, and prevents reporting the location of convicted predators.

Seeking support during confusing and stressful 'cognitive dissonance'

sorry for the long post but i need help.

ive been a jw for 20 years - still active and attending meetings, baptised at 18, i have recently become very dissillusioned.

a few reasons: ill treatment of my kids by a prominent 'assembly speaker' elder, then my son left the truth at 15 (not baptised) and was 'dropped' instantly, despite this community having been his whole life for 15 years.

If the "Truth" is the truth, why does it change. Shouldn't people be able to independently research and discussed the "Truth" without being afraid like the Bereans in Acts 17:11?

Hi goingthruthemotions, What does your wife like to do that is non-JW, is time consuming, and she would meet more non-JWs with similar interests? Do more of those types of activities and slowly stop going to meetings because of schedule conflicts.

At some point you may feel the need to stop going to meetings for your own sanity. Have you learned to ask your wife questions about how she would feel if she was doing something that she disliked? What simple questions do you ask your wife and how do you help her to do her own research and critically think for herself? Or, do you present facts to your wife without letting her do her own research?

What types of thought-stopping platitudes does your wife use and how would you overcome them so that she stops using them?

Give your wife time. If she is a social JW or has lots of JW family, she may be a JW to prevent being shunned. You could always ask your wife, "If the Watchtower told JWs to start associating with everyone and stop shunning anyone, would she be a JW? And, why?"

Phone call from a brother last night

the brother and his wife thought the statement at the end of this month's broad cast show was a little off.

the org stated that jehovah's organisation can not be corrupted.

(needless to say only three had shown up for the broadcast meeting at the hall) he's never heard that before so we filled him in as to what the org has been up to and gave him jwnet, jw facts as well as jw survey to look at.

@ label licker, If JWs visit your Facebook page, I would recommend slamming the Scientologist and then writing something like, "I wonder if Scientology guilts Scientologists to donating/tithing money, says loans to Scientology are donations and not loans, guilts Scientologist to donate money for meeting in a Scientology building, guilts Scientologist to attend meetings or donate their labor helping rich Scientologists like Tom Cruise, soliciting donations for the local congregation and then transfering it to the corporation, etc." Write everything that the WTBTS does to JWs but phrase it like you wonder if Scientology does it to Scientologist.
