Thanks Barbara and Kuddos to Candice for going the distance for a jury verdict!!
Peace be with you and everyone, who you love,

the plaintiff, candace conti's goal from the very beginning was to bring enough attention to this problem to incentivize watchtower to change its policy of secrecy.
the award can be explained as it was decided: separate compensatory and punitive damages.
the punitive award is established in law to punish wrongdoing - here, the conscious disregard for others - and deter that conduct in the future.
Thanks Barbara and Kuddos to Candice for going the distance for a jury verdict!!
Peace be with you and everyone, who you love,

since i left the jw's in 2008. i have since struggled with feelings of anger at people in power and religous leaders.i feel that in this world you just can not trust anybody.i have given up trying to see the good in people and i just feel deattached from people..
A little cynicism about leaders is be a good thing, because people can be very self-centered to very caring about others. As you meet more non-JWs you will develop your ability to detect whether a person is self-centered and narcistic verses caring about other people.
Peace be with you and everyone, who you love,

if you are an american citizen, please visit http://wh.gov/tfk and sign the "protect millions of americans from dangerous orgs: modify usc title 26 501 tax exemption requirements" petition that i created on june 1, 2012 on the white house website.
i assume that only americans can sign this petition, but i do not know.
it takes about 2 minutes to register and sign the petition.
Thanks a million to the 16 people, who have signed the White House petition at http://wh.gov/tFK .
Please visit the "Protect Americans from Dangerous Orgs" Facebook page at http://on.fb.me/wh-petition if you would like to learn more reasons why to sign the White House petition and how to remain anonymous if you want by reading the FAQ box that is pinned to the top of the Facebook timeline.
Today I sent emails/electronic messages similar to the message in the quote box below to the following organizations:
Peace be with you and everyone, who you love,

Dear Child Protection Center, Inc. Representative,
Do you want to prevent victims of child molestation or abuse from being victimized by their community? Do you want to motivate non-profit organizations to notify government authorities about child molestation or abuse as soon as possible? If you want to protect children from predators as well as prevent victims from being victimized by members of non-profit organizations, then please support modifying USC Title 26 §501 (and possibly § 170) to clearly define public policy that non-profit organizations must promote child protection, as well as, basic rights of freedom of religious belief and speech to their members and/or employees.
One step towards helping protect children would be to email links in this message to interested people, who you know, about visiting the White House petition “Protect Millions of Americans from Dangerous Orgs” at http://wh.gov/tFK before June 15, 2012; post a link to the petition on http://www.cpcsarasota.org/; “Like” the White House petition link above and the Facebook link below; and/or write and promote writing letters to the President, U.S. senators, and U.S. representatives. When writing to the President, U.S. senators, and U.S. representatives, please emphasize that non-profit organizations should be required to protect children from molestation, abuse, and/or endangerment.
The following videos show how children are not protected by non-profit organizations that they or their parents are members of:
· “Ultra-Orthodox Jews Shun Their Own Reporting Child Sexual Abuse” - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_DSjrtoZ0s ,
· “NBC DATELINE - Jehovah's Witnesses - Watchtower - Child Sexual Abuse Settlement” - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeBDXYISzJc ,
· “Catholic bishop indicted for unreported child abuse” - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QWmm1SIzEZc ,
· “Are Jehovah's Witnesses child murderers? A look at blood transfusions.” - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcZyLIPfupE ,
This is my second attempt to promote the “Protect Millions of Americans from Dangerous Orgs” petition on the White House website – the first petition expired on May 26, 2012. If 25,000 people (Americans only, probably) sign the petition by June 30, 2012, the White House Staff will review this petition. If more than 150 people sign this petition before June 30, 2012, the petition will be viewable by all White House website visitors and appear on internet search browsers.
For more information about this petition, please read information on the Facebook page “Protecting Americans from Dangerous Orgs” using either http://on.fb.me/wh-petition (short url) orhttp://www.facebook.com/pages/Protecting-Americans-from-Dangerous-Orgs/264002310365016 . Most of my ideas for identifying a dangerous org (e.g., cults), I learned from reading Steve Hassan's book “Combatting Cult Mind Control” and relating it to my personal experiences with Jehovah's Witnesses. Steve Hassan signed the White House petition and tweeted about the petition through his website (www.freedomofmind.com).
Thank you in advance for reading and responding to my message.
Sincerely,
Robert

Too bad the leaders of the WTBTS do not follow what they preach about other religions. It reminds me of children pointing at others to deflect punishment from themselves.

If you are a woman and feel that the WTBTS adversely affected your life, please write about your experiences to [email protected] or complete the electronic mail form at http://www.now.org/comments.html.

Subject: Re: comments concerning Helping Victims of Dangerous OrgsDear NOW Staff Representative,
Thank you for reading and responding to my request to at least send an email blast to NOW members to visit the White House petition “Protect Millions of Americans from Dangerous Orgs” at http://wh.gov/tFK and/or Facebook page “Protecting Americans from Dangerous Orgs” at http://on.fb.me/wh-petition . In the one dangerous org that I am most familiar with about 600,000 American women are taught to be subservient to men, and about 4.2 million in the World.
From personal experience, I like most Americans was unaware of mind-control techniques used and harm caused by dangerous orgs until I met a Jehovah's Witness, who tried to recruit me into the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society (WB&TS). Dangerous orgs like the (WB&TS) are very good at promoting a positive image of the org by using mind and emotional control techniques to coerce and intimidate its members to promote the org. Steve Hassan's website ( www.freedomofmind.com ) and the "Protecting Americans from Dangerous Orgs" facebook page contain valuable information about identifying dangerous orgs and how to help victims of dangerous orgs.

michael d'antonioauthor of heaven on earth, fall from grace and an upcoming book on the international sexual abuse crisis in the catholic church.. fraud and the next catholic crisis.
one can only guess what the pope might be thinking.
in rome, his butler has been arrested in connection with a "vatileaks" scandal that has revealed venomous internal conflicts over the church's finances, child abuse scandals and doctrine.
Hi Terry, I may be wrong, but I feel that until JWs are freed from WTBTS's mind control that JWs will continue to be afraid of reporting crimes that involve JWs and/or the WTBTS. Catholics are not as brain-washed as JWs, so Catholics are more likely to go to the police. Also, if civil suits are filed against the WTBTS the WTBTS will pay and obtain a gag order to keep the case quiet.
On of the main reasons that I am promoting a White House petition to protect millions of Americans from dangerous orgs in the thread http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/226465/1/Its-Back-Round-2 is to either get orgs like the WTBTS to stop brain washing JWs or to cause the WTBTS significant reduction in revenue.

i'm wondering what you all make of this story from the guardian regarding the cult information centre - a uk charity that aims to raise awareness of cults.
it seems that it's on the verge of having its charitable status withdrawn (or, at least, this was the case three months ago).
unsurprisingly, the complaints that have led to its potential closure stem from cults such as the church of scientology.. here is the story:.
Cedars - ABibleStudent - sorry, I don't have a facebook account under "Cedars" yet, but I'll take your advice on board!
Hi Cedars, Depending on your vision for the Facebook page and how much time is left before expiration of the e-petition, may influence your urgency of creating a Facebook page. My vision was to inspire people to care enough about the issue by providing a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) box, video links about cults, and then providing links to websites that I thought provided balanced and relevant information about the dangers. Learning how to use Facebook's Timeline feature to organize and show links to videos first and educational links second got easier after two months had past since the account was created.
Creating a website using Wordpress or Google might have been easier than using Fadebook, but I did not want to spend ~ $20 for a website url from GoDaddy! for a short-term event supporting the White House petition. Has anyone thought of creating a website to promote political activism against dangerous orgs?
Best of wishes for the UK e-petition.
Peace be with you and everyone, who you love,

Hi Cedars, Have you created a Facebook page for the UK e-petition, like the Facebook page (i.e., http://on.fb.me/wh-petition) that I created for the White House petition "Protecting Million of Americans from Dangerous Orgs" (i.e., http://wh.gov/tFK)? The Facebook page should be searchable by internet browsers and spread to other Facebook users by people liking the Facebook page.
