Get enough people to organize and write their representatives and anything is possible! Gays, Feminists, Catholics, JWs with doubts, exJWs, ex-Moonies, ex-Scientologists, and Scientologist with doubts all have legitimate issues with a small percentage of non-profit organizations. Limiting tax exemptions could be a very influential way to encourage change in those non-profit organizations whose leaders care more about protecting the image of their organization than protecting its members and their member's children. The IRS already disqualifies non-profit organizations with links to terrorizm from receiving tax exemptions.

Unfortunately, to paraphrase an exJW, "Organizing exJWs is like herding cats."

Non JW involved with a JW

i am a non jw who has been doing a fair amount of research on my own in hopes of finding some answers and understanding for my current heartwrenching situation:.

i have been dating a man for the last while, and we grew very close, very quickly.. .

suddenly he has pulled away from me, gotten very skittish and says he feels like he is leading a double life, and isn't ready for a relationship.. all the while stating that his impending divorce is the reason for his cold feet, which could be understandable except the marriage was very much "over" long ago.

Hi LostInTranslation, My best advice would be for you to move on with your life and do not bother contacting him. From your description of him he sounds like a project man (i.e., a man that a woman wants to fix and is a type of co-dependent behavior). Go out, meet new friends, enjoy your life, and do some introspection. If your friend contacts you in the future, decide then what you will do.

after four hearings, to which church leaders did not send a representative, the church began complying and the office of public prosecutions intervened to discontinue the case.. the inquiry will also hear from anti-jehovah's witness campaigner steven unthank, a former member of the church who says he and his family were ostracised and persecuted after he tried to tackle child abuse.. his submission alleges the church and its incorporated body, the watchtower society, covered up criminal child abuse, including rape, sexual assault, death threats, blackmail and assault, across four states by ordained ministers and officers of the church.. advertisementthe victorian and civil administrative tribunal will hear a religious vilification complaint against the church by mr unthank in may, after the church said people who left the church, as he had, were ''mentally diseased''.. and the victorian health services commissioner is investigating a complaint by another former gippsland church member that a jehovah's witness chaplain was found alone without permission with a naked toddler in a room at latrobe regional hospital.. the child appearing today, who cannot be named, has asked the inquiry to determine whether the church's failure to get working with children checks between july 2008 and december 2011 amounted to criminal child abuse of all 6160 jehovah's witness children in victoria.. he asks why the government and police let the church ''get away with'' non-compliance, and whether the state will help file a class action against the church.. the submission suggests the 2000 jehovah's witnesses who worked with children were committing criminal offences each week.

Hi LostInTranslation, The reason he is confused is because he has an authentic persona and a cult persona. He may not be toying with you but, unless he gets help from a cult exit councelor, you are better off without him.

I also fell in love with the authentic persona of a "Spiritually Strong" JW and could not understand her qwerks until I read Steve Hassan's book "Combatting Cult Mind Control". I went through the same hot/cold contact with my former friend. The following is a video of Steve Hassan which might help you understand what you are dealing with:

The best advise to give you is run as fast as possible away from your friend.

If you don't like that advise then prepare yourself for him leaving you, unless you can awaken him. The WTBTS indoctrinates JWs to believe that non-JW's are bad associations. IMHO Behavorial, Informational, Thought, and Emotional (BITE) control techniques are a lot more powerful than I first imagined and can leave an indeliable mark on an JW's and exJW's personality. Read Steve Hassan's books ("Combatting Cult Mind Control", "Releasing the Bonds: Empowering People to Think for Themselves", and (his latest book) "Freedom of Mind: Helping Loved Ones Leave Controlling People, Cults and Beliefs"), visit his website, contact him though his website, and/or watch videos about his methods to learn what you are up against.

i jumped in several months back with a highly controversial subject of my daughter being sexually abused by an elder and the efforts we were taking to bring him to justice.

Met up with an Ex-JW from Spain in London Today

we went to the british museum, there were loads of dubbies there.

i had a bit of fun!

one group were looking at the exhibits referring to the babylonish occupation of judah, the jw guide was talking about 607 - so i said "this sign here say 587 not 607".

Hi cantleave, Great job! Have you ever been on the Bethel tours to the NY Metropolitan Museum? I went once at the insistance of a former friend who is a "Spiritually Strong" (gag!) JW. The NY Metropolitan Museum is fantastic but the Bethel tour is lame. The tour guides use a loose leaf notebook to show WTBTS propaganda to promote the WTBTS's view of the museum works.

The best part of being with JWs on the tour was watching their reactions to a very attractive woman in a bikini sunbathing outside the window in the Egyptian Art Gallery and with her butt pointing directly at the glass. I fantasized that she was an exJW having fun with the JWs inside because no one else was as close as she was to the window.

ok so we have all be jws so that isn't unusual.

ok so it was at the zoo but it was still an elephant.

The most unusual thing that I have ever done was join JWN and JWSF and try to actively empower JWs (and members of other dangerous orgs).

The best things that I have done were to help raise my former step-son, learn how to fly an airplane, bicycle through Europe once and France twice, ride a motorcycle, play tennis, play golf, ski, and dance Salsa, Bachata, West Coast Swing, Country 2-Step, Night-Club 2-step, etc.
