today i need some encouraging support ..i will be attending my friends funeral visitation tonight .. we had been jws together since childhood ,and then three yrs ago she was dfd .
we have supported each other these past few yrs with encouragement .she comes from a huge jw family, and they all plan on attending tonight.
i have known them all my life ,and they hate me for leaving the cult.
I'm sorry for your loss troubled mind. If it will not be a JW funeral, is there something that you can say about your friend to celebrate her life. It might make you feel better. Besides celebrating her life is a lot better than promoting the WTBTS.

so... i should have commented on the thread on dating a fader.. i am a fader, and my girlfriend is just... she doesn't care much for jw's... she wants to be with me, and while we are together we ignore all jw rules.
last night, for example, we celebrated halloween.. there's a problem, though, and i need your help.. again, i will explain the cities:.

HI ILoveTTATT, Has your GF read Steve Hassan's book "Combatting Cult Mind Control" (or his other books)? If she has and you talk about how she feels about what Steve Hassan wrote, she will be less likely to be a JW. I cannot imagine any woman preferring being a good JW wife versus being an individual who critically thinks for themself.

Hi ILoveTTATT, Its a no brainer about eliminating 1 through 3 and going with jnat's alternative strategy. If you have non-JW friends, ask if they will help you by studying the Bible with them. Go to Starbucks or some other favorite hangout to meet people and count it as your field service time. Talk to your GF's dad and tell him that you are sorry about how you have behaved the last couple of months, because you were depressed about your job search and now you are very busy impressing your new employer. Since the WTBTS does not know when this system will end, you are trying to cover all your options so that you do not have to live off your parents.
How would your GF's dad respond to a simple questions, like "What kind of son-in-law would he want for his daughter? One who pioneers and lives off his father-in-law, or one that reports the bare minimum service time and is able to live on his own with his daughter and make her happy?"

i`m an optimist and i would say zilch .
i would bet you a million dollars ( if i had a million dollars ) that if you did a survey in the street that you live , asking the householders what is the life saving message jehovahs witnesses bring to your door on a regular basis , they would not have a clue.. and they have been preaching this message for over 100 years .
how inefective can they be .. the probable answers you would get are : they dont take blood transfusions.
Hi Smiddy, Most non-JWs who I know feel that JWs are members of a kooky, harmless cult and to stay away from JWs. I on the other hand I feel that the WTBTS is a dangerous cult because the WTBTS uses BITE control techniques to victimize JWs. I wish I knew a better way to help non-JWs see how dangerous the WTBTS really is and to make sure that no more non-JWs will be recruited by the WTBTS.

so because of a new job that i got, i have to stay in my parents' city for 6 months.
thereafter i can move.. so i am back at my parent's house.
my dad is fully awakened now, it will just take time for him to accept the invalidity of the blood doctrine and the disfellowshipping doctrine, or anyone for that matter.. my mom was delighted when i said i wanted to join them in the family worship night.

Hi greenhornet, Was your wife a JW? If she was and is now going to be baptized as a Mormom, she needs to learn critial thinking skills. Reading Steve Hassan's books (i.e., "Combatting Cult Mind Control", "Releasing the Bonds: Empowering People to Think for Themselves", and (his latest book) "Freedom of Mind: Helping Loved Ones Leave Controlling People, Cults and Beleifs") or watching his videos, willl help you to help your wife to critically think for herself. The following three videos may help you to help your wife to critically think for herself: Strategic Interactive Approach explained 2003 (1:23:23), NY Ethical Culture Society February 2013 (41:09), NY Ethical Culture Society 2010 (40:56). You may want to watch one or more videos with your wife (preferrably the ones that do not say Mormons are a dangerous cult).
Please remember that Steve Hassan would not have been a Moonie if a rabbi or someone he respected told him why the Moonies were dangerous before he got totally involved.
I will give you two good reasons to help your wife to critically think for herself. (One) Mormons are required to tithe, so your discretionary income will be reduced. (Two) Mormons are a moderate dangerous cult/high controll organization, but you do not know whether they will get better or worse. It is better to help your wife now before she forms closer relationships with Mormons and they may shun her if she no longer wants to be a Mormon after she is baptized.

while headship has always been a problem in my marriage, partly because i'm more of a team player and my wife has man issues, now that i'm clearly fading my wife feels that i have nothing of worth to say.. i resist the idea of divorce but this is not much of a marriage.
since she doesn't/ can't hold down a job alimony would be ridiculously expensive.
cheaper to keep her, as they say.. i get zero cooperation or even discussion for any adjustments i feel might be in order for us as we grow older: obabmacare?

Since the WTBTS is constantlly asking for more sacrifice and donations from JWs, how come your wife is such a bigtime consumer? To me she sounds unhappy (possibly from being a JW) and is trying to find happiness from buying things. She doesn't seem very spiritual to me. To me your wife's spending and how you feel about it, is a good reason to seek marriage counseling.
