Most recent Society lies about 1914?

as i'm sure we all know, the society has lied repeatedly in the past about what they preached regarding 1914 in the run up to that year, claiming that what was preached was that jesus was to become king in that year and his presence was to begin then etc, when in fact they were preaching that all this had already happened in 1874 and that the end of the world would come in 1914.. .

but does anyone know if they have repeated this lie about what they supposedly preached recently?

when was the last time they claimed this?

As I'm sure we all know, the Society has lied repeatedly in the past about what they preached regarding 1914 in the run up to that year, claiming that what was preached was that Jesus was to become king in that year and his Presence was to begin then etc, when in fact they were preaching that all this had already happened in 1874 and that the end of the world would come in 1914.

But does anyone know if they have repeated this lie about what they supposedly preached recently? And if so, when?

When was the last time they claimed this? Does anyone know?

I'm wondering if it's still a current claim, or a lie they have quietly decided to drop in recent times - without bothering to admit, apologize for it or correct it, of course.

well my mom and i got into a pretty bad argument today over the phone.

it basically came down to the fact that she couldn't handle what i was saying about the organization, etc and all she could come back to me was that i "hated her?

I have to say I was quite impressed with your mother's response. Her reply could have been an awful lot worse as they often are, in many such cases. Despite her failings and bad choices, both of which have affected you, she seems to love you and be reasonably open to hearing an alternative perspective.

Yes, I recognize it as a cult now. But the thing about cults is - nobody knows when they are in one. The mind control obviously extends to making you unaware that you are mind controlled. LOL. So, it does take a while to realize. It's a very strange feeling. It's like a fog slowly lifts from your mind. You literally can't understand how you once believed and accepted the things you once did, as it's so obvious - now - that they were bogus.

Brainwashing, mind control, are very real things and can only really be fully understood retrospectively.

Djeggnog, you can stop rambling on endlessly now. The prosecutions case was fully proven. The jury in the Court of Public Opinion unanimously found you guilty of being a deliberate serial liar and a counterfeit Christian many pages ago. You were fined your remaining credibility, sentenced to JWN ignominy for life and branded a deceitful 'false teacher' according to Biblical standards, as at 2 Peter 2:1-3. The court was dismissed several pages ago. It's over. And you certainly won't earn any time off for good behaviour carrying on as you are.

But thanks for continually bumping the transcripts so that everyone gets a chance to read about your crimes against reason, truth and the spirit.

What if JWs are right?!?

i know this is a pointless question, but what if this happened:.

you came home from work one day, sat down, and turned on the tv.

there is a sudden announcement that the un has banned all religion.

I could see it happening, but it still wouldn't make me think the JW's were right. There are many religions and spiritualities that speak of degenerating world conditions and an eventual 'shift' possibly marked by an "Armageddon" type scenario, from the Mayans and the interpretation of the ending of their calendar, to the changing Yugas of Hinduism. It's likely that the Christian Revelation and it's 'Armageddon' is just a regional variation of a global theme. A global force halting or seizing control of religion at some point is kind of a "common sense" scenario for troubled times. Therefore, it happening certainly wouldn't make me think the JW's were "right". If an "Armageddon" happens, it's almost certain not to be a JW Armageddon scenario, but it may include controlling or halting religion in a state of emergency.
