I asked similar questions too...many times! I remember staring in disbelief at the pictures of the flood in the My Book of Bible Stories book with women and children, little babies, and animals outside the ark scared to death and crying. I kept asking my mom why they all had to die??? Her answer was that they didn't listen to Noah. I would say, but the kids couldn't help it! And the animals! Well dear, it's just like with our preaching today...mommies and daddies are responsible for their children. Talk about trying to screw up a perfectly good sense of injustice.

It does eventually scratch off...I'm keeping mine as pristine as possible. Here's to all the men and women who served to keep our country strong and free. Thank you.

he was surprised!!
on returning an hour later -the same ladies were still laying nude on the lawn- so he went inside to report it to the supervisor!!!

Planning my escape - comments wanted
by FreeWilly insince leaving the dubs 5 years ago i have gained a new appreciation for this life.
since this life is the only one i know for sure that i have i have tried to take every opportunity that comes my way.

Go for it dude! pshaww to the 401K...how many miserable people have those? Besides, if it doesn't work out after a few years, you can always come back to the rat race.
I've always wanted to visit Costa Rica! They have more species of animals per square hectare there than anywhere else on earth if memory serves. I think the marriage ordination thing is a great idea! If/when I get married I'd love to do it there. Or, on a cruise. :)

What's with 16 year old girls and male singers?
by gumby inbeing the old bastard that i am, i like the oldies as far as music goes.
yesterday, i was working and singing out loud like i do alot and i was singing "16 candles.
" as i was singing it, i remembered something i've thought about before...........why are many songs from the oldies about 16 year old girls?

Scully - I always thought these guys were reminiscing about the first girls they "liked" as teenagers....
Yep...I thought that too. If you think about the songs in that light, they seem rather sweet.

How funny! I was just thinking of this the other day while listening to that Winger song...I used to love that song as a kid, now it just seems really creepy when I think about it. ha
And how about the Beatles' When I Saw Her Standing There? Well she was just seventeen...you know what I mean...and the way she looked was way beyond compare...yadayadayada....

It's difficult to lose a parent, I know. But, it seems like there's a bit of relief in your post and that is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. My grandmother passed away last year after lengthy 'old-agedness' in which she could not do anything for herself. It was very hard to look after her and even harder to watch her pitiful quality of life...death was peace for her and relief for the family. Sorry to anyone who thinks that is harsh, but it's the truth. I was not sorry when she died; I was sorry when she was too far gone to be able to enjoy any part of living anymore.
((Hugs to you acsot)). You are a gem and I was so glad to have met you in Ottawa.

Why does God need to be worshiped?
by Scully injust curious about this question today and wondered if anyone else has pondered this.. is worship meant to be a reverent show of appreciation for life that god imparts to individuals?
if that's the case, and someone - by the mere accident of their birth - has a truly crappy life, why should these people worship god or show him "appreciation" for their unfortunate circumstances?
why should anyone who endures hardships worship god, particularly if they have been worshiping god and then all of a sudden a heap of trouble just plops into their lives, unannounced and unwelcome??.

Little Toe - I'm surprised you found anything here to be offensive. whoa...am I that out of touch with believers??
Good question Scully...it's a good one to discuss with even the most ardent jws...it's not an apostate-type question, so it may open their minds just a little.
