I wouldn't want to be the teacher who's allowed the concealed weapon when there's a crazy man on campus. Wouldn't I be the first one taken out?

Look What The Cat Caught!!!
by SWALKER inmy cat had this on the sidewalk playing with it!
he bit the tip of his tail off but my son and i were able to rescue him and turned him loose at our pond.
he seemed fine.... swalker.

Glad you rescued the snake, SWalker. Snakes are just part of nature folks. Damn that stupid garden of Eden story. I swear that's one of the reasons why people are so irrational about them. If they were cute and fuzzy people wouldn't be so quick to chop them up. I like snakes. I do have a spider phobia though. I try hard to recognize it as a stupidly irrational fear. I won't kill them even though they completely freak me out.

yep...never has so much delicious man-flesh been given to so many. I enjoyed the movie for other reasons, but damn! It's hard not to be rendered speechless by the sight of those 300. I'm going to see it again tonight. ;) (and yes, I am a gamer-girl)

Can we talk? . . .
by exwitless inhey, this is under jokes and humor, so don't get too offended.
i just wanted to vent about how people say things incorrectly, such as pronouncing things wrong or saying phrases wrong.
i'll start, and if you have any to add, please feel free.

'k...now that we're on the topic of the French language - Narkissos (sorry if I spelled it incorrectly) wrote about being 'mostly used to read printed English.' I have a wonderful French Canadian friend who has cracked me up on more than one occasion based on her use of English expressions the way she has heard, or at least, interpreted them. I laugh with her, not at her, because I know without a doubt that if I were transported to a French-only speaking community I would most certainly bungle every colloquial French expression there is. That said - here are a few of my favourites from my friend M: "Give it a world" (instead of 'give it a whirl' aka give it a try). Spoken of former friends going through a divorce where the wife got way more than she deserved - "She totally took him to the dryer" (she meant 'took him to the cleaners'). When she was surprised by something and didn't know what to say: "I was like a chicken in the headlights" (it's DEER in the headlights. har!). And the latest: "I just need to get over this lump" (she meant 'get over this hump'). hooo! I can't tell you how many belly laughs she's given me. She's a great sport though and laughs just as much over her foibles as I do once she understands what the correct word/expression is.

Otherwise Engaged...
by LittleToe injust a little breaking news:.
after several years of a great friendship with diane (previously posted as xena) things have started to really come together recently and i've succumbed to making an honest woman of her (or at least as honest as it's possible to make her.
last night (xmas day) i popped the question and she agreed to marry me (i wonder if she knows what she's let herself in for!!!)..

Why do women love religion?
by Kaethra ini've pondered this so much.
most religions, even though they are male-dominated, boast a predominately female population.
i've tried and tried to understand why otherwise independent women would give up their autonomy to a man-led faith and just recently i think i understand why...women, much more so than men, are in need of protection.

Scully...it brings tears to my eyes...to think of those women...but I see them as women stuck whereas I see many free women who support male-dominated religion...and I just don't get it. well...how can you rationalize the unrationalizable?
