i was about 12. i took a friend along to a meeting and he said he didn't mind learning stuff but it was a shame it was so boring.. i was about 14. i had my very own bible study and took him along.
he just kept whispering about the girls there that he fancied.. i was in my early 20's.
i took along a lady that i knew.
At a funeral for my Dad.......... all my jw relatives complained about just hearing his religious views .....nothing personal about him!
Just to add .....when first started d2d, I felt so guilty because I knew we counted that time. I could imagine how insulted that person we had spent time with, would be. They thought we were seriously interested in them!
So glad I left!

we had an announcement in our cong last week about the upcoming one day assembly.
the title of the assembly is "imitate jehovah".
anyone in the usa following this morning's shooting "on-air" live tv will know what i'm talking about.
bryce williams (not real name, but on-air name) shot and killed 2 people on live television this morning in roanoke, va. he was wearing a go-pro camera, and uploaded his first-person video onto his social media accounts.
i've seen his twitter feed (before it was taken down), and not very far down he mentions being raised a jw.
Just like to say that of course people from many religions commit evil etc like this, but the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses without a doubt say that they have the ONLY TRUE beliefs in the whole world, only ones with gods spirit actively guiding & blessing them.........gods only happy people. Now if you have that kind of GOD righteously directing this Noah's Ark.... this shit should not happen..........
i remember this time of year when jw's desend en mass on one area.
a fun game to play is "spot the..." whatever jw walking stereotype you choose.. so i thought i would play it with you guys, starting with how to spot a single jw sister.. i say, she will be dressed up to the nines, probably over dressed in fact, have hair immaculately coffied, make up plastered on, towering heels and be smiling at every brother in site.
all they need is a sign saying "pioneer, virgin, available for marriage!".
Very sad indeed. Vibrant intelligent lives just sitting on a shelf .......waiting.
Watchtower's population is about 73 % women..............leaving very few eligible men. Guess when Russell & Rutherford started putting together a bunch of religious BS ........they never thought ahead ......now look at what they have created!

i was born into jws, pioneered for 10 years (met my husband at pioneer school).
had health issues that saw me catapulted away from 'the centre of the cong' and wow what a different place that was!
Nice to meet you Peony! Welcome to the gang! Great that wt hasn't managed to screw up your marriage. Sounds like 'panic attacks' & wt go hand in hand. The only time in my life they happened, was when I joined up and when I was trying so hard to 'believe' it all again just before I woke up. Never had them again!!!!!

standing up for yourself,and deciding to follow your own path takes strength .
you have to be strong especially if you were raised in a way of life that dictated so much of who you were .
while being raised as a jehovah's witness i was taught to follow ,unquestionally follow .i was told to put others before myself ,serve,don't stand out ,don't be independent .

A similar thing happened to me also after bumping in to die hard jw & actually experiencing his dark doomsday outlook. First things out of his mouth were how very terrible the world is, how awful people were .....more trouble bla bla bla. HonestlyI after I walked away from him I felt contaminated, almost went home & took a shower!!! UGH ,,,, what an outlook on life!
BUT ........I knew that 5 yrs ago I might have joined him in that sick view of life!

I have a feeling that ....... sooner than we think, the JW.org aka Watchtower...... will become a laughing stock! The witnesses will think they are being persecuted but the truth is, people will be disgusted with them. All their dirty laundry will be hung out for all to see!
Then .........you can bet your booty that you will be sooooooo glad you were smart enough to the hell get out!
