  i'm an ex-jw from cheltenham pittville (uk) congregation.

  i've been free and clear for a few years now so i'm through the anger phase and in the happily getting on with my life phase.

  AUGUST 2014 OVER!! NOW WHAT??

  while sitting through a dreadful meeting today, while staring into space, i wondered what is next for jw's now that the "greatest preaching campaign" in the history of mankind is over.

  what is everyone gonna be obsessed with now?

  When things start fizzleing out for watchtower,

  they start making shit up. When 1975 failed, they

  distracted us with the beatings & raping of our

  sisters & brothers. They losts home & families!

  WHY you ask ......because of the 1975 failure &

  the huge dissappointment of the believers......

  witnesses started to leave wt....so .....

  BIG DISTRACTION

  & they didn't care who they hurt as long as they

  could hide their guilt & lies by shoveing our noses

  into something else!!!

  to take the attention off the fact that many jw's are

  waking-up & leaving ....and they have run out of all

  Right there, is the crazy shit that can set off some

  nut case witnesss who have been stressed beyond belief

  by this cult! I would not be surprised if this happens

  ...........................hey we have already seen

  that people flip out & start shooting up anything that

  comes to their sickend minds, schools full of innocent kids,

  shopping ctrs, movie houses ...it is happening now & in some

  cases it is a witness involved!.

  Watchtower JW.ORG may have a lot more blood on its

  hands than they bargained for! Such a disgusting religion

  that predicts that 8 billion people will be killed by god if they

  don't join! OMG !

  Would you go to church?

  i have an unspoken rule that if someone ever invites me to a church - that i haven't been to before - i will go.

  even though i'm an atheist i'm still interested in the experiance.

  just like i'm not into basketball but i would like to go to a game sometime to feel the energy of the crowd.. growing up as a jw i've never set foot in another church.

  My Story: from JW Elder to Born Again Christian to Agnostic

  i first posted here on 3rd june 2008. at the time i was an elder, appointed the previous october, i was 36 and i was a born-in.

  at the time i'd become disillusioned with the society due to the governing body's letter explaining why the book study in private homes was being abolished.

  april 2008 saw me start questioning this decision, privately of course, and this eventually led me to this site, to jwfacts and to many youtube videos, all of which began to errode my faith in the leaders of the organisation.. in july 2008, having discussed my doubts with my wife, i attended the district convention, deciding to give the society one last chance to convince me it was the truth.

  LennaB .......I just want to give you a hug right now.

  Actually I think many on here are proud of you for

  having the guts to confront those 3 elders! Those

  questions were pretty direct!

  Take it easy sweety, there is no rush...if there ever

  was an armageddon, from what I can see it was over

  & done with many moons ago. You have tons of time.

  There is nothing that can't be fixed in one way or another.

  and concentrate on having a wonderful life ..right NOW!

  Your parents gave you life & a beautiful brain....now go out

  and live it to the full! Twenty years old ...how fantastically

  great is that! I say that dear, as I wasted 50yrs working for

  a cult!!!!!!!!!!!! I would give a lot to be young again, but it is

  gone and it won't be coming back ever.....all that was just BS.

  Don't waste another second worrying, don't be afraid WT is

  just a Real Estate Investment Buisness, maskarading as a

  'religion'........they have no power over you or anyone else!

  The Pew Survey of Religion and Public Life a nd Jehovah's Witnesses

  Introduction

  The Pew Survey of Religion and Life Association researches the intersection of religion and public life to better understand the role of religion as a whole in public life in America today. The 2008 survey reveals a great deal of information about religion in society as well as about the Jehovah's Witnesses (JW) religion. The national representative sample used for the survey, which was called "massive," was 35,000 Americans over 18 years old. Witnesses are only 0.7 percent of the population, or in this study 245 persons, which was considered statistically reliable by the researchers.

  The findings related to Jehovah's Witnesses

  One major finding was that Jehovah's Witnesses "had the lowest retention rate of any religious tradition" – only 37 percent of those who were reared Jehovah's Witnesses still identified themselves as Witnesses as adults (2008, p. 26). The survey also concluded that the religious tradition most likely to switch affiliation (including to atheism) included not only the Witnesses but also the unaffiliated. The "affiliation change" data also included persons who were reared in one faith and switched to another faith. For the JWs, more than two-thirds of those who listed their faith as Witnesses were reared in another faith, or were not affiliated with any specific faith, as a child.

  Also of interest is the fact that 80 percent of those who were reared in a religion are currently not affiliated with any religion (p. 27). This supports the finding that large numbers of Americans leave the faith in which they were reared. One reason for changing ones faith is mixed marriage and young people today are more likely to be in a mixed marriage than older adults were, supporting the trend today to marry outside of the religion in which one was reared. These findings support the common conclusion that the Witnesses are today a revolving door religion.

  Education

  The Witnesses had one of the lowest levels of education of all the religions surveyed. Nineteen percent had only a high school education or less, the lowest education level of all religions surveyed (p. 56). This compares to eight percent of atheists and only three percent of all Jews. In contrast, only three percent of the Witnesses had a post graduate degree and six percent were college graduates. This compares with 21 percent of atheists who had post graduate degrees, and the same percent were college graduates. Of the Jews, the comparable numbers were 35 and 24 percent (p. 56).

  Income

  About half (42 percent) of the Jehovah's Witnesses had incomes below 30,000 and only nine percent had incomes above 100,000 dollars. Only those involved in historically black churches had incomes below the Witnesses (p. 60). Of the Jews, a mere 14 percent had incomes below 30,000 but 46 percent had incomes above 100,000 dollars, or over 5 times the level of the Witnesses. Of those who labeled themselves Protestant, 32 percent had incomes below 30,000 and 15 percent above 100,000 dollars.

  Gender

  More females identified themselves with some theistic religious tradition than males for most all religious traditions, including the Witnesses. Of the Witness, the divide was greater than for most all religions, namely only 40 percent of all Witnesses were males, and 60 percent were females. For Protestant traditions the average gender divide was 46 and 54 percent, respectively. For the unaffiliated, the level of men who accepted this label was 59 percent and women 41 percent, the reverse of the Witness ratio. Also of interest is the fact that 14 percent of the Witnesses were divorced or separated, higher than all groups except historically black churches and "other faiths" (p. 67). No doubt the strain of Witness teaching also strains mixed marriages.

  These rates were from 2008........I think the majority

  of women is even higher today.... perhaps that is why

  they are crying for ...more men! Ahh, aren't we all!! ;-)
