Then why are you criticizing something as intimate as a conversation between a man and his creator? How awful. Seriously, not even the way a person chooses to speak to their creator is above criticism? i just watched this today with my JW fam -- it was ridiculous and insulting. So pretty much just what I expected from the Borg.
I loved how the interviews drove home that not even those in the congregation could be trusted to be good association -- makes for a unified organization no doubt.
Overall, it made me sick to my stomach.
it took me a long time to write this....i'm being brutally honest...i am still a reg pioneer...three sundays ago,i was praying and asking god for a sign or something because i was so confused...i told him exactly what i needed to see for me to believe.i was feeling terrible--crying and feeling sick because i was so confused.ten minutes after, i walked into the kingdom hall and to my surprise--my prayer was answered!
i soooo wasn't expecting it, even though i prayed.

It wasn't long ago that I was like you, torn between my heart (fear of losing everyone I loved) and my head (knowing the org didn't add up.)
I left, and even came back a few years later to study it just to be sure. Guess what? It was still not the truth.
I graduated with a degree from a top ten university, married an amazing man and live a happy, peaceful life every day.
There are more good people outside the organization than in it. Truly kind, loving people and good honest men who respect their wives and their marriage. There are also really good people in the organization, but they are good in spite of their religion, not because of it.
I know it's scary. It takes guts to be authentic and shake off the chains that bind you. But you can do it. And you can have a great life and the ability to think independently.

I've spoken to so many non-dubs about this article today and they are disgusted. Please let this be a breaking point for some of the honest hearted sitting in the halls. A man would never be asked to stay with his wife who physically endangered him. Any man with a non-believing wife was seen as a martyr, whereas any sister married to a nonbeliever was reaping what she sowed.
I'm disgusted. How many women are going to stay with a dangerous man because of this article? How many children that have watched their father beat their mother will now somehow think the abuse is because she failed to be a good Christian wife?

Why do they insist on picking on women who are already beaten down, humiliated, broken?
How many women are sitting in the KH, trying to hide their bruises and their shame, praying to Jah constantly to save them, praying for direction...
How many women will take this article as a sign to keep their heads down and keep taking it?
And what of their children, who will be irreparably damaged by growing up in this house.
I grew up with a close family member who's non-believing husband beat her and her children senseless.
I saw him kick her like a dog right in front of me. I remember my family helping her and her children hide because she was afraid he was finally going to kill them.
After years, she finally left but the damage was done. Her children were destroyed. After she left him, he became a JW. She took him back, because we know most abuse women look for reasons to forgive their aggressor. It's part of the mental programming.
Guess what? He continued beating her, he just took a break to attend the 5 meetings this time around. I remember seeing her teenaged son throw himself on top of his mother to protect her, and watching him getting kicked over and over again, but he refused to move. He took the beating to protect his mother.
Her children are now grown. One killed himself (the one mentioned above) and 2 are abusive alcoholics.
I pray to God my family reads this and wakes up.
it was an awful weekend both of my kids were in the hospital with pneumonia.
one had to stay the night and the other was treated in the er.
it was extremely stressful and worrisome to say the least.

My name is Cherrypye, and I'm addicted to celebrity gossip. Whew...glad that's off my chest.
Frankly, he says some fairly hurtful things. The best was, "Four years ago you were selling clothes in the Valley, and now you want to pretend like your some princess?"
He belittled her quite a bit, and I would be livid if my daughter ended up with a man like that. Granted, she may be famous for being famous (and other non-mentionables), but she certainly has been successful for building her brand. He seemed to really have little respect for her.
jw's face a tide of "no"s and "not interested"s everytime they go banging on the doors, surely it would have occurred to them by now that the vast majority of the public don't want to know and don't want them at their doors.

Quendi, I agree with that you're saying in theory. Unfortunately, Jdubs do not feel that way about other's beliefs.
Our local Christian churches decided to arrange a door-to-door preaching campaign, which my very JW mother criticized from the mountain tops. Freedom of religion needs to go both ways, and unfortunately it only goes one way with JWs.
