That phrasing in the Dec. 15th WT is really strange. Especially the part specifcally targeting the "faithful apostles" as an example of who is anointed. Per JW doctrine, everyone who was a "true" Christian from 33 CE onward until around 1935 when the great crowd was "discovered" by Rutherford, was anointed, not just the 12 faithful apostles. Sounds like they're opening the door to first century Christians having the earthly hope, which would make sense if they're going to redefine the 144,000 completely.

If the big change at the AGM meeting is dropping the literal 144,000...
by slimboyfat inthe best conjecture seems to be that the gb are going to drop the literal 144,000 teaching, especially in view of the december watchtower that pointedly does not mention the 144,000 number.
if they are dropping the literal 144,000 number, but still claim that only a small number are anointed, and can partake, and that only a few are left on earth, then it is fair to ask what has really changed?
they are simply clearing up the embarrassing situation that there were obviously more than 144,000 "anointed" believers from 36 ad until now, and that the number of partakers has been increasing in recent years.

The year 1914
by Kool Jo inok...so after this new light came out in the watchtower study over the weekend...a couple questions:.
1. why is the year 1914 still relevant to the doctrine?.
2. what would the effects be in they were to ever drop the 1914 teaching in the future (let's say 20 years from now)?.

I think it would be a mistake for them to give up on 1914 so soon after their (very poor) attempts to defend 607 in 2011 and 2012.
I thought the same initially, but then I remembered that neither of those two articles in 2011 made a single mention of 1914, or even why the 607 date was so important that they had to write a two-part article on it. I don't remember the one from 2012.

Thoughts on Jesus' Resurrection
by Perry ini think that in our various discussions about life after the wt, we many times forget about the cornerstone of christian life - the resurrection.
the implications of the existence a man who holds the power of life and death is manifold.
it makes discussions about the existence of god obsolete.. for all of scientists' accomplishments they have never been able to make even one amobea come alive from non-life.

I don't like Full Gospel. I prefer 1/4th Gospel. Or maybe 2/5ths Gospel at the most.

The question isn't about whether I want you to go away. It's why *you* don't want to go away.

So you willingly flaunt Jehovah's own council? What, it doesn't apply to you?

So, why again is has someone who is obviously a true believing Witness been conversing and arguing with apostates for 12 years now in direct opposition to Jehovah's own guidance as given through the Faithful and Discreet Slave?

Also the apostate's main goal is to achieve prominence and attention.
They've been claiming that for as long as I can remember. When I was "in", I believed that all apostates were out starting their own churches so they could get their own following.
