it was shit!
we had to stand outside in all weathers like we were the elite police for the kingdum hell.
when all the cars were in we had to lock the gates but a few years ago when we had all finisied the brain washing meeting the gates had been super glued shut by some smack heads!!
No one directed traffic into our KH, no real need, people know how to drive and park in an empty spot. Never understood why some KH's had a car park attended...
I was however one of the few who did 'security' during the meeting. Now this was a REAL privilege because you were given a green light to leave the boring meeting and hang out in the car park. Now that was a privilege I wanted, thank you Joe Hoover!!!

i thought it'd be fun to talk about what part of the conventions just made you cringe or be annoyed with.
i can remember a couple things:.
i remember after the tms when they put the list in the back on the announcement board, there were people that would get up while the last song was being sung to write down the info.
If you were lucky to take a Bus there......... I bet you only did once....

This is the main reason why I NEVER took the bus to the convention. I would hear of how they would sing dorky Kingdom songs and I avoided the bus like the plague.
All I heard for weeks before a Convention how great the Drama was going to be......
They SUCKED!!!!!!!!!!!! No I did not look forward to the Drama.

I hated walking to the convention from the car park and back to my car at night as well. Our DC here in Melbourne is held at the Tennis Centre, the car park is a 10min walk away at the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) The total capacity of the MCG is approximately 100,000. On most days there was a football match on and we had to walk through that massive crowd in our suits with our stupid JW badges....ahhhh how embarrassing!!!
Oh how sweet freedom is when you stop doing what you HATE!

one criticism (god, that word reminds me of the tms) was that my other videos weren't boring enough to match what it's really like as a jw, i think i've captured it a bit better in this video.. also, it's meant to be fairly non offensive because i hope jw's can take a sneaky peak.

i am writing to my kids.
i have found it a good way to reach them with feelings at times and to let them know what is going on without emotions involved.. i have always told my kids that when and if they ever want to know what happened, ie; why i left their mother and the witnesses all they have to do is ask, and that i would be open and honest.. i feel that i am running out of time with them, esp my son who is so busy working, partying and chasing his girl that i don't see him like i used to.
so busy that he is not thinking and i am sure he will get baptised sooner than later to be in good with his jw girlfriend, and no asking is forthcoming.
Hey Oz, I say while writing your story, to write it ALL out, warts and all. Then go back and create an EDITED version for your kids. (but keep the full version somewhere safe)
If you decide not to give them your life story now, maybe you can put it in your will, that when you pass away and your children are a certain age, for it to be released to them.
I personally would love to know my parents history - warts & all, however I am in my late 30's, I wouldn't want to have known it when I was a teenager.

I have no kids so I can not even imagine the pain you are going through!

years ago i was reading in the wt reprints and saw a question from readers after russell died where someone asked if god had an organization as brother psl johnson had been teaching.
rutherford made clear in his response to the letter that jehovah does not have an organization.
i can't remember what year it was but i believe it was in 1916, 1917 or so.
