  Wow, talk about repression. :( So sad, and they're perpetuating the cycle. Isn't that how it always is?

  Does anyone know how graphic they are these days? Sad to say my kids are going to some or most of these meetings and I just wonder what they'll be hearing. I have been, lately, trying to stay abreast of the topics via blondie's weekly comments, but that doesn't cover "the talk" on sunday or their "school" on Thursday. Though, The Mr. did pull out the Young People Ask book for the older kids yesterday and I skimmed it - utter and complete garbage.

  Wow, some of those comments about how elders or others handle it would be amusing, if it wasn't true, you know? I feel so sorry for those people, sometimes... Maybe a good romp is what they all need.

  i find the topic of the 1975 end of the world scenario facinating, especially since i never lived through it.

  do you old schoolers ever feel concerned that people will one day forget about what really went down?

  with whitewashed tripe like the 'proclaimers' book informing dubs that it was just the false expectations of over enthusiastic apostates, are you at all concerned that the legacy of bullshit that is 1975 will be a forgotten moment in history blamed on you instead where the blame really belongs?

  Englishman - thanks for the WT post from 1968. Great reading - now if I can get my hands on an "actual copy" (as opposed to PDF or link) without it looking like I'm on to something...

  The only old WT volumes we have of this time period is 1972, anyone know if anything in there refers to the great A of 1975? Maybe The Mr could be "enlightened" by it... maybe.

  And ok, you know what crazy world changing event happened in Sept 1975? I was born! HAHAHAHA

  the mr is a jw-started back into studying 3 years ago, got baptized 2 years ago.

  i've never been one, nor have an interested (was raised catholic, now am a pagan - uu).. i'm just starting this thread to see how you all deal with it.. thanks.

  She believes in the WT with all her heart, but she picks and chooses what she wants to follow. Those are the most dangerous types of JWs IMO. She doesn't care that divorce is only justified in the Bible due to adultry. She has told me that she doesn't care if she gets df'd for it...she will leave me if I stop being a witness and then get reinstated herself.

  Wow, BD, that's certainly a different scenario. I thought all witness had to drink every last bit of kool-aid to be a good little witness. I don't think I know any pick and choose sorts. I know what you mean about losing the kids. It worries me, esp wrt my stepkids.

  Well don't try to win arguments with him, that never works. Just sheepishly ask him questions that plants seeds of dissonance in his mind.

  Yeah, I have noticed that. Trouble is I get too argumentative/hot headed when the subject comes up. I need to work harder on that.

  Yeah, that cult mindset, gotta love it.

  Does anyone else find themselves sometimes that after hearing it over and over (esp end times junk) that you start getting a little paranoid or worried and a little tweak in the back of your head says "what if he's right?" I find that happens to me, then I say to myself of my usual non-bible arguments and the fact that so many people have thought the world would end in their day... just ignore it, Libelle... I wonder - is that repetitious stuff part of the plan for converting UBMs?
