Wow, that almost seems unbelievable what you went through, and the treatment. Amazing, and so sad. I am glad you are here, and I hope you stay! ((HUGS))

I'm going to end my "bible" study
by KristiKay ini posted a while back, i've been studying with a nice jehovas witness lady for probably about 6 months.
after a few weeks i googled a few things (earthquakes, how long we've been on earth, ect.
) i realised she was very misinformed.

I would just invite her in, make her a cup of tea, tell her that you think she is a lovely lady, that the study has really made you think, do research and there are some JW beliefs that do not coincide with your conclusions, and that you no longer wish to take up her valuable time since you know that the purpose of preaching is to get householders baptised and that will not be happening. Say it with a smile!

Homeless man w/ Golden Voice - JW tie?
by monkeyman ini swore i heard the ted williams mother say her husband was a jw on the today show.
anybody know her from brooklyn?
she said she went to a nice church?

Yay I heard that too. Kinda rolled my eyes. Like being a JW is something that was of relevance. Oh well, she seemed still a little skeptical of her son and his ability to remain clean of drugs and alchohol.

Tips on Job Interview's being an ex-JW and all of that
by mamalove indoes anyone ever think about when you are an ex jw and did not finish college, and how you handle that?.
by luck and skill i have always had a good job without a degree, but i found another opportunity, actually it is a municpal position, not a publicly traded or privately held company which i am used to working for for a decade.. i think i could squeek by on my 10 years of experience in my field, and the fact that i am in the process of enrolling and transferring credits to complete my degree.. so how would you handle that questions: "so do you have a degree in xxxx, what is your education background, etc?".
what i have said in the past, and it has helped as i got a subsequent job offer, is "due to circumstances, i did get married relatively young, and started a family, and was unable to finish college, because i put raising my children first.

Greetings to All, No Longer Lurking
by Franklin Massey inclaustrophobic.
that's the simplest way for me to express how i feel in the wt org.
like many here, my eyes were slowly opened over the years as i did more earnest research, trying to reconcile some long standing spiritual quandaries.

Welcome Franklin! I like your writing style. You will enjoy it here I hope and learn a great deal as I have. Sometimes people get kind of passionate, but take it all in stride. Take care!

Your most memorable Kingdom Hall meeting disruptions!
by easyreader1970 ini remember about twenty years ago some teenagers were caught fornicating in one of the additional schools.
the schools were downstairs, essentially separated from the rest of the kh.
they weren't just happened upon, though.

Hilarious thread.
I remember an announcement about someone "clandestinely" decorating the KH. No one ever knew who it was, but clocks would be hung up mysteriously, new fake flowers, paintings, etc. Very weird. They mysteriously vanished then.
This made me think of all the times I struggled to keep my kids quiet, and when the PO would tell my MS husband to keep our kids more quiet. Luckily we had lots of little ones at our KH and it was always a party in the mothers room.
Apostates would come, and different brothers would sit apart from their families to tackle them if need be.

Favorite quote from 2011 School for Ministerial Servants
by iamwhoiam in"let's see a show of hands of those who know that the end is very close (everyone raises thier hands while looking around at each other).
excellent!...we know this because we have a whole-hearted faith in the faithful and discreet slave don't we?".
no explanation needed .

The thread on the Ark Theme Park made me start thinking about "what the heck were so called Bible writers thinking at the time?!!"

Loved this thread. Great comments.
I always think of these things that are discussed as if my mother was listening, and to what she would say. I can hear her saying, It was a miracle, it was Jehovah's purpose and he made it happen. The Bible does not give details.
I guess it is an easy cop out.

Is Forgiveness Overrated?
by leavingwt in.
is forgiveness overrated?.
if i'm being completely honest with myself, there is a short list of folks who i haven't forgiven.
-
mamalove
I think it depends on the issue at hand.
I think it is rather arrogant to hold somewhat minor issues over someone elses head and not "forgive." It is not necessary.
If you forgive, to me it is the same as accepting an apology or correction of a wrong, and then not being angry anymore. You have to be OK with the situation to truly forgive, because you have gotten over it. It doesn't hurt anymore. But if you still hurt, then, it is definitely not a forgivable item unless the other party performs some kind of satisfying action to make those bad feelings go away.
