A simple question
by Listener inthere is a lot of information available about questions to ask jws.
it's a good thing to make them think a little more instead of being spoon fed all the time.. one question that could be posed is - where did the the 'new light' come from?
(answer) so where did the 'old light' come from?.

If they ever do visit my home (Since I haven't seen one doing door to door in over 10 years.. in 3 different cities) I will ask them...
First, where the hell have you been?
Secondly, can you, using only the Bible, emphatically prove that Jehovah's Witnesses are the true religion and there really is a god?

Ray Franz Was Wrong
by Farkel ingod rest his soul.
although i never met him personally, he and i did correspond a number of times, and i have numerous friends who have not only met him, but stayed several days with he and cynthia at their home.
if nothing else, ray was kind, non-judging, and generous.

Peter Medawar, in a review of the book The Phenomenon of Man by Pierre Teilhard de Chardin said something that applies to the GB most appropriately "its author can be excused of dishonesty only on the grounds that before deceiving others he has taken great pains to deceive himself."
RIP Ray. You helped open a door through which many of us have escaped.

There are no instructions because there is no coming "Day of Vengeance of the Almighty". If there ever was a "god", he's grown so weary with the petty squabbles and inanities of humankind - much like a small boy growing tired of watching his ant farm do the same thing over and over- that he no longer concerns himself with the affairs on this little blue planet. ( Which brings to mind a quote from The Watchmen "You are the smartest man in the world. But I fear the smartest man in the world as much as I fear its smartest ant.")
To me, Armageddon will happen in about 8-12 billion years from now, when the universe finally grows so large that the stars themselves move far away from each other and have cooled, barely able to sustain life. I'll be gone way before that, so .... no worries here. (It's called science, not the mysticism and superstition that has crippled the minds of man for millennia)
Contemplate the grandeur of the cosmos, the sheer magnitude of eons of time and space, and a petty, jealous "god's" "day of judgement" is still just a blip on the radar screen.

Gotta love someone who joined the site 4 days ago and has devoted most of his posts to my thread, most of the consisting of negativity and outright rudeness. Meh. Must still be a jw.

I actually didn't write to the branch office or the local BOE (who I don't know), I wrote to 25 Columbia Heights. Perhaps that is why they called, to give it a local confirmation. I moved away from my home town and the congregation I grew up in over 12 years ago. I didn't really know where to write, so I sent it to the headquarters.
Thanks for the clarification Fury. It makes more sense of why they would call.

by BlackTwisted inhey guys, well, idk where to turn to at this point, but i feel like pouring my heart out to a random people, so please hear me out.. .
okay, so i have been online dating, for um, about a year or two, i am 15, and i am not sure if any of you have heard the "sixth sense" i have that, and i feel i can trust this dude, so i am sure he is who he says he is, i don't have any bad vibes about him...except he's an athiest :( but other than that, he is a really nice guy, we have started dating this month.
yes, we have cybering, but not much, and no, we dont send any explicit pics and we're both virgins.

I skipped over the majority of this thread after your initial post....
Your issue is he's an atheist? What's the problem? He doesn't believe in an invisible person who judges the things you do, magically created everything, and tests you? I'm an atheist. That doesn't make me a bad person. (I work at the evil daily :P) Now, if he makes of YOUR beliefs, then that's more of a character flaw. Atheism isn't, though.
Good luck.

My response to his question was an effort to clear up any misconceptions that I want to part of their organization, to erase any doubt as to the possibility of my return. I included my phone number so as to ensure they remove me from any calling list. (Keep in mind, it's been over 10 years since I was last in a KH, I don't know how Big Brother they've gotten, save from what I've read on this board.)
And Cameo is correct, if, from what I have read here and on numerous other sites, they can still "count" you among their numbers unless you official cut all ties with them (i.e. judicial committee or a letter).
The reason for the timing of the letter was because of this website. After reading a lot of posts as a guest here and on jwfacts.net, I realized my name was still associated with JWs, even though I was "inactive". I didn't want my name attached to an organization like this one.
And the whole purpose of the post was to ask those that left from a more current affiliation if it's normal for them to call.
