Your Lord told me to not EAT Post Cereal. So I switched to Frosted Flakes. Felt like I was at the KH. So I switched to Cheerios. And I'm lowering my cholesterol!

I was DF'd 12 or so years ago (2 years after my sister disassociated herself because my step-father, an elder, molested her when we were young - which I found out about just a few years ago), and because of the mind-control mechanisms they put in place 8 years before that, I worked to "come back". I didn't stop my "sin" (smoking pot) - in fact, while I was out I continued to smoke and even took LSD. Fourteen months after the ousting, I was "welcomed back as the prodigal son". Two months later I quit going to the meetings.
The "straw" was when I found out of the abuse. That man looked DOWN on ME as if I was rolling joints out of the Bible pages. This coming from an ex-con, lying, two-faced molester.
So I have had 0 contact with JWs until I found this board.... a couple weeks ago. Lots of feelings came up. And thoughts. Some involving a chainsaw, can of gasoline, and some rubber tubing. Then I remembered: I'm not them. I'm not deceived any longer. So I wrote my little apostasy letter to the Grandstanding Bastards.
I no longer feel the need to self-medicate. Drug-free in every sense of the word. Especially free from the opiate of religion (tip of the hat to Karl Marx.)

Saying the earth is "likely billions and billions of years old" is a bit watered down. it has been PROVEN the Earth is over 4.7 Billion years old. Fact.

How WT Apologists at JWN inherently break forum rules. :)
by Essan ini noticed the posting guidelines the other day as i was replying to djeggnog, one of our relentless wt apologists (although he's very unapologetic about it :) and i noticed one rule in particular that got me thinking.. seeing as such jw's are representatives of an organization that falsely claims to solely "represent" a pretty important person - god - and they frequently make the claim here that the org.
represents god on earth and that it's teachings are god's teachings - a claim they have been completely unable to substantiate - then i'm fairly sure they must be in breach of rule 7:.
"impersonating or falsely claiming to represent a person or organization".. so, if ever one was looking for a technicality on which to 'disfellowship' any particularly unpleasant and deceptive society worshipping spammers, then maybe posting guideline 7 might be the way to go.

Jehovah's Witnesses are depressing
by wannabefree inlearning the truth about my faith as a jw (that it is wrong) actually has resulted in me having a more positive outlook on life, postive about today even though it has its problems.. but today, speaking with close jw friends (strong witnesses at that), i find myself hearing nothing but depressed thoughts.
when everything you talk about as a witness is how terrible the world is but soon (for over 100 years) the "new system" will be here ... just hang on ... is it any wonder so many jw's are on anti-depressants?.
it is depressing being surrounded by depressed people.. .

No matter how many times you say it, over and over, trying to CONVINCE YOURSELF you're happy is like trying to piss up a rope. It's futile and stinks.
Sadly, JWs don't even realize they're the rope, WTBTS is the piss.

Did you ever know any JW's/Pioneers who frequented popular nightspots and got drunk?
by James_Slash init used to make me sick at these hypocrites.. they would be at the meeting the next day or out in field service, obviously still intoxicated from the night before but putting a show on before the congregation.
i knew a couple of girls who would be regulary doing this over a weekend yet they would be pioneers all week, answering up at the meetings yet would be heading into popular nightspots and coming home at 4am drunk.
their dad was an elder (surprise, surprise).. i remember telling an elder about this once.

Only once did I see them at a bar or club. It was a Thursday night at Rich's in downtown Houston. I had quit the meetings and was at the club with my gf. As we were dancing, I saw a two regular pioneers, a presiding overseer's daughter, two elders' daughters and a ministerial servant. One of the pioneers (a guy) had a clip-on earring (at this time I was ballsy enough to pierce my ears) and the girls, well, they were hard to differentiate from the rest of the crowd. When they saw me, the immediately made a bee-line for the upstairs dance floor. So, grabbing my gf's hand, I introduced her to them. The tension was, well, palpable. Because I'm no rat, I didn't feel it necessary to "report" them. I also didn't feel angry at the hypocrisy. These were kids RAISED in the Organization, so there was never really any choice as to what they would do. I don't blame them. (But I could tell by the deer-in-headlights-look from all they were worried I would snitch.)

@Hamsterbait- Well said.
@Notverylikely - "Why do you hate miracles?" Because I am an intelligent creature with reasoning skills beyond that of the common housecat or monkey. I see science, not god, in every day life. It is miraculous in the sense that it is a wonder to behold. From the tone of your question, it seems that miracle=intervention from a deity. That is another Tooth-Fairy I've outgrown.

No way I just found this..... you guys will love it :)
jeh hovah
Hovah-
HAVAH became Hovah with letter substitution.
Havah is "exist" or "be" or "am"
but
hovah is "ruin".
Strong's #1943 Hovah, another form for 1942; RUIN:-MISCHIEF "Mischief" as is meant means "bad intentions" or "of evil intent".
There is a Jeh and is the name of a Zorast spirit of mistresses and prostitutes. Also reference "Jeh". Jeh in other dialects as being the pronunciation of the word for jinn.
A jinn is an evil spirit.
In some dialects "jeh" means "jinn" which is an evil spirit. 'Jeh' is also 'the whore'. In Persian mythology. She is responsible for the death of the first man. Jeh is also used for a consort, paid or unpaid, outside of the marriage bond.
(Jah which is also used for Jehovah is short for Jabulon.)
Jehovah can be broken down into the 'demon of mischief' or 'prostitute of ruin'.So, basically, "Jehovah" is the devil. In a nutshell.

That list was like the 10 Commandments, for Satanists. TRUE Satanists. Not the cat killing, wearing all black because you think goth is cool type. Those who like the Morning Star, have NO NEED FOR capricious wishy-washy deity.
And atheism is great. :) Trust me. No imaginary friend/foe checking over my shoulder. No judgement. And guess what? I'm still a decent, honest, loyal (well, now I know where to REALLY place my loyalty) hard-working person.
Richard Dawkins said it best when (to paraphrase) he stated that why is atheism so taboo? I'm monotheistic, minus one. :)
