A person cannot be a "Jewish" Christian! Both religions are too different and are at odds.
A Jew can be a "Christian" which is a religion, but he will no longer be considered "Jewish" if he becomes a Christian. He is still a "Jew" if he was born one, but is no longer "Jewish" since his religion is now "Christian".
As Designs mentioned, the Christian teaching of Messiah is not the same as the Jewish teaching of Messiah. They are two completly different religions and concepts.

JW.org statistics and the decline in first world countries.
by OneEyedJoe incross posting from another thread.
it seems that i might not be the only nerd here that's interested in statistics like this so maybe it deserves it's own topic.. so i was playing around with google.com/trends with some jw related search terms.
i found the results a bit surprising, and certainly interesting, so i figured i'd share.. first off, the link to what i tried.. one of the most surprising things that stood out was the regional interest.

OneEyedJoe- I don't even know who is still in the English cong that I knew, but you may be right. Two congs both with shrinking attendance replaced by one decent sized cong.
Still I wonder if anyone was concerned when the consoladation took place. I remember when the cong first had to split because it had grown too big. I'm sure though that many from back then have died, left the org, or moved away.
With around 100,000 people in this town you'd think there would be more witnesses. I have not seen any jws going door to door across the street ever in the nearly 27 years living here and it has been many years since I saw any on my side of the street.

Interesting, thanks for sharing.
I remember hearing at the CA in the 90's how meeting attendence in the US among Spanish congregations was exceeding 100%, while attendence in English congs was in the 80-something to 90-something percent level. No doubt the trend has continued and attendence in English congs has continued to decline.
There were 3 congs in the town I live in when I last attended 9 years ago. One Spanish and two English. The Spanish was the biggest.
Now the Spanish cong is still there but only one English cong. Jehovah is bringing in the increase! LOL!

It will be interesting to see what is changed and if it is anything major.
I wonder if it will get a new cover? It should to avoid confusion with older (old truth) editions.

This press was for sale years ago. I thought it was already sold. It was one of the 3 in Wallkill from 1986 that they sold. They use the 2 faster presses 16 hours a day.
I'm confused as to if they want to increase production at Wallkill. The past two years the new convention books were printed in Germany. They mention "adjustments" to the printery are underway.
But they DID order new bindery equipment in 2011, perhaps for the new bibles.

respectful_observer,
back in the 80's and 90's the km had inserts about the use of magazines and mentioned there were major differences between the number of magazines produced and the amount reported as placed.
I remember parts on CA programs discussing this. They ackowledged there must be a large number of magazines in pubs homes and book bags that need to be placed or the number ordered should be reduced.
Remember too, that only literature placed with non witnesses can be counted in fs reports. When they had personal subscriptions none of those copies were included on FS reports.
Having pubs report tract placements makes sense too as the society can monitor how many are shipped/reported as placed, and adjust the amount printed and shipped to congs accordingly.
The volume they print is enormous, most years the total Bibles, books, tracts, brochures, magazines and booklets produced comes to between 2.5 and 3 BILLION!
I cannot imagine all the work involved and logistics of having all of this work done in over 700 languages, much of it simultaneous with English and shipping it all out on time to reach all of the congregations during the same week.

Thanks for sharing this info with us!
What they are doing makes sense in a financial way and it is a push to get more of the literature distributed to the public.
It will be interesting to see what the revisions are in the books, also as mentioned in the letter, they will be using quotations from the revised NWT in them.
They know now how much literature was produced during the just ended 2014 SY, thus saw an increase and want to get the number requested reduced if possible, while not restricting what publishers want or need for themselves or their fs.
They have had articles in the past in the km about publishers making good use of publications and not wasting any and that congs should reduce the amount of mags requested if there is a large surplus of left over copies.

What does semimonthy mean
by bobld inyes,i know what it means however, the gb of the wbts does not.they said the study edition apears once a month and is not offered to the public.the study edition(has 32 pages) and the public edition(has 16 pages) of the watchtower are not two different magazines.per their wt of jan.15/2008.. on page 2 of their oct.15/2014 public wt they say it is published semimonthy.
page 3 they say nearly 46 million copies of each issue are printed.also their study edition is published semimonthymy understanding, the public issue is on the 1st of the month and the study is on the 15th month only one copy of ea issue.someone please explain the discrepancies.. .

It is deceitful the way they do it. They mention The Watchtower as the magazine with the largest circulation of 45 million without including the study edition.
In the article on jw.org about their printing operations they mention the 16-page magazine but make no mention of the 32 page editions. They say they produced over 1.3 billion magazines in 2012, thus over 108 million per month, if you subtract the 16 page w and g that leaves over 17 million for the 32 page editions.
Yes, if a non-witness reader bothers to look and see that the magazine is published semi- monthly he or she would wonder where the other issue is, why are they receiving only one issue each month.
