Ready or not, Judgement Day is in two weeks--
by moshe in- and believe it or not, some say the rapture is coming your way on may 21st.
harold camping is still standing pat on this date for the rapture- then on may 22nd, millions of people left behind on earth, who are weeping and wailing, will begin to be killed by god.
however, he is not giving any refunds on may 22nd, if his predictions fail to come true, to contributors who took out their life savings and sent it to his ministry.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9acwnhkvoo.

New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures
by Quendi ini know this has been discussed before, but i want to reopen the topic.
i am currently reading ray franz's memoir crisis of conscience and ran across this footnote with respect to the new world translation of the holy scriptures:.
"the new world translation bears no translator's name and is presented as the anonymous work of the "new world translation committee.

jehovah wasn't even a word until around 1700's made up by a Catholic monk named Martini
You are misinformed. The English use of "Jehovah" was already popular by the time the KJV was written in 1611.
"Jehovah" is no more a made-up word than "Jesus". It's the accepted English translation of the Hebrew divine name, which the original pronunciation of has been lost.

He should be pressured to donate all the church's resources to charity on May 22. But like most end-of-the-world cults, it's all a money-making scam run by sociopaths with zero empathy or concern for the people they rip off. It will sneak off into the sunset, regroup and reappear later to dupe another generation later on. It's kind of hard to have sympathy for the people who reject the Bible's repeated warnings about putting faith in men, though. Or:
You've got to admit, his date has a lot more exposure (at least in Western society) than 1975 or any of the other JW dates did. He may be one of the reasons government starts to clamp down on religion. He's rapidly becoming a bigger false prophet than the Governing Body and he's a relative upstart, in comparison. Anyone else see potential fulfillment of prophecy coming out of this?
He doesn't even have a message, which is what I don't understand why the big advertising campaign. He teaches predestination, which means where you go isn't up to you or anything you do, so what's his ministry?
"The end is coming, so... Well, that's it. You can't repent, or embrace Christ, or change your ways, or anything. Just saying, it's coming, so do with that information what you will, because no matter what you do it doesn't matter."

From what I have pieced together, because nearly all information on the subject is second-hand, unsubstantiated, and speculation, since the Society refuses to divulge exactly how they came up with their translation, it was basically a work/study program. Nobody involved knew much about the Biblical languages; definitely not enough to tackle a Bible translation with any accuracy. So, they sat down with Greek and Hebrew lexicons and basically figured it out as they went.
I can look at Koine and ancient Hebrew interlinears and, without any first-hand knowledge whatsoever - piece together approximately what the intended meaning was. Of course, I'd be taking the writer of the lexicon's word for it and hope certain phrases or words didn't have nuances unknown to me in the context, time, or society in which it was originally written.
All considered, they didn't do too bad a job and only denominationally-biased "experts" really seem to hate the NWT. The tendency to interpolate Scripture during translation to fit in with church doctrine is apparent in many translations. Some verses which have ambiguous meanings are translated with specific meanings This eisegesis disallows the reader to choose which way they want to view it, forcing the understanding to adhere to preconceived ideas.

Did anyone see "Four Weddings" on TLC 2011/05/06 - JW bride
by Scully inonly caught part of this program during my tea time at work last night.. the premise: 4 brides competing with each other, and hosting the other brides at their wedding, scoring the wedding and reception.
the prize was an all expenses paid island honeymoon.
i didn't particularly care what was on tv, but a couple of my colleagues were watching it, but boy did i ever do a double take when one of the brides, named celeste, would not enter the church for the second and third weddings, based on her beliefs as a jehovah's witness.

Probably an indoctrinated but inactive or never-baptized born-in. All the baggage, but for absolutely no reason. Another product of basing an entire belief system on a tenuous grasp of a human interpretation of a book she's never read.

birthdays or anything like that...christmas and so on? is it REALLY worng to do that?
JWs aren't the only ones who understood Christmas to be an interfaith construct of Christianity and Paganism. It's been banned throughout history by several churches. That being said, do your own research and decide for yourself.
Birthdays, on the other hand, may have actually been celebrated by early Jews. Many Bible scholars believe Job 1:4 is talking about his sons' birthdays. While 2 birthdays are definitely mentioned in the Bible where people were executed, the party being demonized along with the murders is a logical leap of epic proportions. The only person in the Bible to be described as "fat" was in opposition to Jehovah (Judges 3:17), so should we extrapolate from that example that being fat is also evil? And his killer, who was sent by Jehovah, was left-handed (Judges 3:15). By JW logic, wouldn't that make left-handedness good?
One [man] judges one day as above another; another [man] judges one day as all others; let each [man] be fully convinced in his own mind. - Rom 14:5

Going from Catholic to Jehovah's Witnesses is a step toward truth. The JWs lead toward truth, but only unadulterated Scripture is truth. Jesus is truth and when an organization tells you they're "truth", they're calling Christ a liar unless they are an exact representation of him. JWs are not, but they're truth-ish.
They will teach you to question what you have been told the Bible means, but then they will substitute that with what they tell you the Bible means. They pull you out of a spiritual rut, but then replace it with another one, if you allow them to.
If you're the apathetic type who went with the flow in Catholicism because you couldn't be bothered to find out for yourself what the Bible actually teaches, JWs can shock you out of your funk. You can use that momentum to launch you into a search for Bible truth or you can just let them put you back into a different apathetic funk of their own design.
The JWs are a stepping stone to enlightenment as to what the Bible actually contains. Some on this forum have decided the Bible isn't truth and that's a separate issue. If you believe in the Bible, JWs can point you in the right direction, but if you follow them all the way, they will eventually lead you into idolatry by placing the Watchtower over Scripture and the Governing Body over Christ. So, use them as God uses them, but jump off the train before it derails into blasphemy and idolatry for 7 old men and a magazine. Just remember, only Christ can save you; the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society can't.

@Pika_Chu
If you use 1 as x, then you have to solve as everthing right of the / being the denominator. You solved for six halves times 3 instead of 6 divided by 2x3. The division in an equation really needs to be vertical to be clear. Once again, I believe 2(1+2) should be considered a single entry. While it's incorrect to write it this way, 6/2x wouldn't be seen as 6 divided by 2, then multiplied by x. It would be seen as 6 divided by 2x. This equation is just written completely wrong and there is no more correct answer than there would be for blue ÷chair.

It depends on what you're trying to inspire. Some begin "Dear Penthouse,"
Some might consider Schindler's List inspirational.
Pistol Pete might be inspriational, keeping with CoonDawg's basketball theme.
Both of these are based on actual events, so they might have more clout than a made-up story.
