One man's "traitor" is another man's "freedom fighter". Every JW convert from another religion is an "apostate" to their old church. All the Jewish first-century Christians were "apostates" to Judaism. As long as the Watchtower stands, people will be labelled as "apostates", just like Russell was an "apostate" from his church. When the Society eventually falls, the "apostates" will become "revolutionaries who stood firm for truth and righteousness".

Are you an "apostate"?
by cedars ini'm quite new to this site, and i've noticed that many of you are more than happy to call yourselves "apostates", even though many of you evidently believe in the bible and in jesus as saviour, etc.. i'm aware that the society brands anyone who disagrees with them as being an "apostate", but just because they choose to do this, does this mean we should be comfortable with being so branded?
should we "bend over" and take it?.
here is what the insight book says on apostasy:.

Make sure your wife skips over the magic-practicing priests parts in Exodus, too. For that matter, there are tons of things in the Bible that may "stumble" her. I hate JWs' catch-all use of that word. It's lost all meaning with them. Anything they don't like, scares them, is unfamilliar, or confusing will invoke the S word. It's disgusting.

Sept.15th WT - Submit to the WT Society or Jehovah Will Not Know You
by flipper inthis was some of the most blatant , aggressive , controlling information i've seen in awhile in the " witness only " version of the wt.
of course, it's always blatant, but the manner that was used in this article was so authoritative and demanding - it's apparent the wt society is losing members and they are amping up the control tactics to keep members trapped.
the article in discussion is on pg.

Jesus is the greater Moses, according to Acts 3:20-22. The Society has attempted to usurp Christ's rule of Christianity, just as Korah did with Moses. Yet, the Society liken refusing to reject Christ in favor of them as being like Korah. The analogy isn't even close, trying to apply it to members of the congregation.

NEW RUMOR: WT ALLOWS BIRTHDAYS
by J.R.R.Watchtower ini've just read at a spanish forum for ex-jw that the wt has cooked a new light article series about social celebrations, including birthdays and aniversaries.
according to a member of this forum 'in short' the wt will let witnesses to decide by 'their bible trained conscience' either they celebrate birthdays or not.
is this rumor based in some real facts or it's just bullshit?.

Actually it does state in the Elders manual that you would DF someone who celebrated a birthday.
Page number, please. I saw no mention of birthdays in either the old or new "Flock" book.

JWs are obsessed with persecution
by life is to short inover the weekend i was around a group of jw's.
i have not been in such a setting for along time so it was sort of surreal.. so this one older jw woman started to talk about her neighbors and their little girls and how much she liked them.
she said they were a nice family, etc, that they watch each other homes when they go away on vacation, etc.

Jesus told how his followers would be persecuted. The JWs fail miserably at the "love among yourselves" identifier, so they're grasping at straws to look like Christians. That's why they go around pissing people off, trying to be "persecuted". Since precious few JWs in the world are actually being persecuted, they have to make it up. Every "No thank you, I have my own religion" or attempt to tax their vast holdings are touted as persecution.
Sure, there are a few third-world countries where individual JWs are attacked for being different. In areas where roving truckloads of AK47-toting thugs are using machetes to chop off the arms of pre-pubescent boys in neighboring villages so they won't be a problem later, it's kind of hard to compete for pity.
Ironically, Jesus spoke more of persecution from within. The very people who were looking forward to Messiah are the ones who rejected him and his followers. The supposed believers - the ones you should least expect to oppose - have been the problem throughout the Bible and Christian history. In typical JW fashion, all scriptural warnings of apostasy from God and Christ, "leaven of the Pharisees", adherence to man-made lies, etc. are directed outward. They look everywhere for straws, while ignoring their own rafters.

Obey the Governing Body!!!! Did you see what I saw? Are they more aggressive now than before??
by punkofnice injust out of idle curiosity i typed ''obey the governing body'' into the only cdubrom i could get my paws on, 2009 and found this piece of 'mind cleansing' from wt54 9/1 pg 538. impatience leading to presumption.
13 in recognizing the theocratic organization one must not fail to obey the advice: wait for jehovah, and keep his way.
wait for jehovah: be strong, and let thy heart take courage; yea, wait thou for jehovah.

I argue that the GB actually demand (and receive) the full gamut of worship - not just obedience - in my paper "Do Christians Have Human Leaders?" I cite some very interesting WT quotes which are all still available on the CD-ROM.

Urine Therapy?
by serenitynow! ini just read this story about a dude that "washes" himself in his urine!
evidently, there is something called urine therapy.
now he's all shocked because he got fired.
-

In his defense, urine is sterile, so there is no health risk to his coworkers. But, dousing his face with his own urine? That's just sick and puts professional dominatrices out of work. I guess he was fired for being a "potty mouth".

Are these the same JWs who insist the "FDS" never claimed to be prophets? I've never seen a group want more to have their cake and eat it too. I make it very clear to JWs (and others) that I'm not interested in their anecdotal evidence and tear them a new one for filling my inbox with unsubstantiated tripe.
This article is about the Tribulation, anyway. I am awe-struck by the average JW's complete lack of reading comprehension. This is why they don't realize the Bible doesn't support all JW doctrine. This is why they don't realized the idolatry and blasphemy of the Watchtower. This is why they aren't even sure what their doctrine is. They can't F-ing read! Add a complete lack of intellectual honesty and all-encompassing need to be right (for once). Now, you have Smurfs walking out of meetings, Alex Trebek singing the praises of the NWT, demons in yard sale bric-a-brac...
I quickly got tired of having to research bogus JW email claims and replying with citations which refuted them. Of course, then I'm the bad guy, because I'm "finding fault", rather than following the lie. Isn't there a scripture about that, somewhere? This is exactly the sort of attitude which inspired me to come up with this phrase:
When the truth is "apostasy", "the truth" is apostasy.
I think it perfectly fits the mentality of the average JW.

@Bungi Bill
Do you speak purely from personal knowledge or can you cite a source for this? I find congregational freedom being seized by "Mother" very interesting. I enjoy reading about things like the Menlo Park situation.
