I can't imagine the courts deciding that people must say hello to people who say hello to them. How can a court legislate loving behavior or enforce, "Do unto your family members what they want done to them". You might as well add, adults must accept blood transfusions whether they want them or not if family members complain. I can't see what the legislation against shunning would look like. Any ideas?

The Power Of Unconditional Love
by 1234 inthe most powerful love in the universe is unconditional love.. a love that has no requirements or conditions.
no actions are necessary to receive it.. this love is all around us and can be easily seen.

Personally, I think this case is doomed to fail.
Members will claim that they shun of their own free will. The Organization will say JWs are complying with scripture, not with their directions. Besides, who has the right to tell members they cannot ignore someone or insist that they at least say a greeting to people they do not wish to greet. Ex-members can not force friends and family to love them in the ways that they wish.
Case closed (IMHO)

1919 2013 2020 and the Slave
by Jerryh ini was never a jw but i lurk in this forum occasionally, trying to rescue some family.
i will spare you those details.. jw.org and jwfacts are there with youtubes out the wazoo but i would appreciate your thought on this.. i know there are contradictions plenty but this is foundational, blatant and current.
i know they typically just blow off.

What is the current teaching re 2018?
The anointed dead were raised to heavenly life in the spring and the churches of Christendom were rejected in the fall of 2018. Is this still current Watchtower mythology?

Curios and Curiouser
by Terry incurios and curiouser__________________________ short story by t.e.
hector, sir—she shouldn’t be in the front seat with you—she’s unaccustomed to travel—and besides, an awkward turn could injure her.”.
the newly weaned saluki pup had been bred for cal hector by the most reputable kennel in kentucky.he paid cash in new bills and gathered her into his arms; then plopped her into the front seat of his vintage car.. the breeder had wagged his bony finger with disdain as he warned him.. “nonsense—do you think i’ve never owned an animal before?

Rather gruesome Terry. My Son teaches a "weird tales" literature course at college. This would fit right in there I believe. I'll ask him.

I think one must distinguish between stupid and crazy. Let me illustrate...
A man blew a tire on a road beside a psychiatric hospital. As he was putting on the spare a wreckless driver clipped the hubcap in which he had placed all 5 wheel nuts flipping them into the adjacent ditch. After half an hour searching he only came up with one wheel nut. He was absolutely clueless until an inmate of the institution who had seen the whole thing through a window commented.. "Hey, why don't you remove the other hubcaps and take one nut from each wheel, put your spare on and head for the nearest garage?"
Incredulous, the man looked up and blurted out, "You are so smart, what are you doing in there?" The inmate looked down and confided, "Look, I may be crazy, but I'm not stupid".

Why don’t couples have to remarry when becoming JWs?
by enigma1863 inyou have to get baptized even if you were baptized in several other religions so why don’t they require you to remarry your spouse, especially if you were married as a mormon or muslim and had multiple wives.
some countries legally allow polygamy so you couldn’t necessarily just go by the laws of the country right?
these problems probably never come up though because i bet not many flds or muslims become jws.

If there would be some financial or control advantage to the WTS, remarriage would be a must.
