Russell was right Punky
"Beware of "organization." It is wholly unnecessary. The Bible rules will be the only rules you will need. Do not seek to bind others' consciences, and do not permit others to bind yours."
Watchtower, September 15, 1895:
why is it important to some that god only have one visible organization to represent him on earth?
why is it important to jehovah's witnesses that people recognize their organization as such?
what makes a witness more moral or righteous or save-worthy if they accept that it is his one and only organization?

"Beware of "organization." It is wholly unnecessary. The Bible rules will be the only rules you will need. Do not seek to bind others' consciences, and do not permit others to bind yours."
Watchtower, September 15, 1895:
i have heard it said [numerous times] that jws live their life according to the bible.. i have also heard [numerous times] that jws have restored the correct christian practice following the great apostasy [?which is a different topic].
my question is 'is there any proof anywhere in history where jewish or christian people lived their life according to the scriptures?".
ttwsyf.
No, JWs do not live according to the Bible.
Instead, 8.5 million Jehovah's Witnesses live their lives according to the Governing Body's word and dictates.
That's why they can put their full trust in men when the Bible instructs not to put trust in men.
That's why they preach that you need not be born again to enter the kingdom of God when Jesus says otherwise
That's why they refuse to partake of the emblems of Christ's death when Jesus tells Christians to partake or you have no life in you.
That is why they believe they must work for salvation when the scriptures say we are saved by grace, not of works.
That's why they say they are not children of God right now when the Bible says as many as received him have the right to be children of God.
That's why they claim not to have the indwelling Holy Spirit when the Bible says, if you are bereft of the indwelling Holy Spirit, you do not belong to Christ.
That is why they don't repent of their trust in men and believe the gospel.
That is why they cannot have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, come to Him, call on Him, pray to Him or even say, "Thank you Jesus my Lord and Saviour for dying for me."
That is why they are bereft of the indwelling Holy Spirit, relationship with Jesus , eternal life, sonship, forgiveness of sin and the righteousness of Christ that His blood has procured for every believer. Acts 13:39
All they are left with is the empty promise of men that if they stick with them, they just might survive Armageddon.
That's it. That's all they have.

Yes, but remember new light does not contradict old light but adds to it.
The accurate rationalization is that this quotation originated in 1895 wheras Jehovah only became editor of the Watchtower in 1919.
Thus pre-1919 truths don't really count.🙃
thesis: when someone who is given a responsibility mistakes that responsibility for authority, bullying is very likely to occur.. jesus spoke an illustration recorded at matthew 24: 45-51 which well illustrates this thesis.. jesus asked, “who really is the faithful and discreet slave whom his master appointed over all his domestics, to give them their food at the proper time?
happy is that slave if his master on arriving finds him doing so.
truly i say to you, he will appoint him over all his belongings.
The faithful and discreet slave is every Christian who will hear Jesus say, "Well done my good and faithful servant!"

I agree with you Ding.
According to Jehovah's Witnesses you must get right with the organization if you want to be saved. It's not helpful if you come to Jesus if you don't come through the organization. Jesus can't save without the organization. I don't know how people could have been saved before Russell came on the scene. Just read the literature from the Faithful Slave at headquarters in New York.
"Come to Jehovah's organization for salvation." WT 11-15-81 p.21
"To receive everlasting life in the earthly paradise, we must identify that organization and serve God as part of it." WT 2-15-83 p.12
"Bible students...must appreciate that identifying themselves with Jehovah's organization is essential to their salvation." Our Kingdom Ministry, Nov, 1990
Those
who do good things for Jesus' "brothers" because these
anointed ones are his followers have the hope of surviving "the
day of Jehovah."
(Watchtower, September 15, 1997 p.
17)
"Yes! genuine Christians are now being gathered into
a united brotherhood earth wide. Who are they? They are the Christian
congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses..." (Watchtower, July 1,
1994 p. 7)
"The Scriptures strongly support the
conclusion that at Armageddon Jehovah will destroy the peoples of the
earth, saving only those who obey his commandments to stand by his
organization." (Jehovah's Witnesses - Proclaimers of God's
Kingdom, 1993, p. 170)
"We will be impelled to serve
Jehovah loyally with his organization if we remember that there is
nowhere else to go for life eternal."
(Watchtower, November
15, 1992 p. 21 - "Serve Jehovah Loyally"
"Bible
students need to get acquainted with the organization of the "one
flock" Jesus spoke about at John 10:16. They must appreciate
that identifying themselves with Jehovah's organization is essential
to their salvation. (Rev. 7:9, 10, 15) Therefore, we should start
directing our Bible students to the organization as soon as a Bible
study is established." (Our Kingdom Ministry, November 1990 p.

"You must be part of Jehovah's organization, doing
God's will, in order to receive his blessing of eternal life."
(You Can Live Forever in Paradise on Earth p.255)
"Only
Jehovah's Witnesses, those of the anointed remnant and the "great
crowd," as a united organization under the protection of the
Supreme Organizer, have any Scriptural hope of surviving the
impending end of this doomed system dominated by Satan the Devil."
(Watchtower, September 1, 1989 p. 19)
"In this way only
lovers of God and of his family, his organization, will survive and
enter into the cleansed earth that is to be transformed into a
glorious Paradise." (Watchtower, December 15, 1982 p. 27 -
Clothing Ourselves With Love and Wearing It)
"Know that
all living at Armageddon will be baptized, either with fire for
destruction with the wicked or with salvation for life with the
theocratic organization." (Watchtower, June 1, 1952 p. 350)
I have to tell Witnesses, the organization is not the channel, the truth and the life. Jesus saves independent of men and organizations.
how do you get out of watchtower?
am i supposed to write letter to bethel or local congregation telling them i don't want to be a jw anymore?
how are the steps.
Why in the world would you want to talk to people that do not want to talk to you even if it is family.
Perhaps because you love your family even though they are shunning you because you have disassociated yourself in good faith from the organization.
BTW, there are no scriptural grounds for shunning non-JWs or non-Christians.

That's stretching it Slim.

<<Korah, Dathan and Abiram>>
Excellent and cryptic answer Slim. And there was Noah as well.
But what was God's crucial single visible organization from 300 AD to 1800 AD i.e., before Russell came on the scene?

"But if you ever want to come back…"
Yes, you may want to come back so family members will talk to you again...but not necessarily because you believe in the religion.
