Should Jehovah's Witnesses Trust the Governing Body?

if there is evidence that jesus invisibly chose specific men at headquarters in brooklyn new york in 1919 to be his faithful slave and that mandate and ability passed on to future directors...then the answer might just be a resounding maybe.. what is the evidence for this invisible appointment and what is the evidence that this is just watchtower mythology?.

i hope jws like scholar and fisherman will explain why the trust the gb.. i must be honest, i see no evidence at all to put trust in either the 1919 selection or the current men taking the lead in warwick.

How can you be saved if you don't have complete trust God's handpicked men?

"Since Jehovah God and Jesus Christ completely trust the faithful and discreet slave, should we not do the same?" Watchtower 2009 Feb 15 p.27

The "Watchtower 2022 Feb p.4 States ---The plain truth is that we cannot say that we trust in Jehovah if we do not trust in his earthly representatives - those whom Jehovah trusts. Today Jehovah leads the earthly part of his organization by means of "the faithful and discreet slave.""

The Governing Body also claims that because Jesus has appointed them, they must therefore be trustworthy.

"There are many reasons to have complete trust in the slave class. First and foremost, Jesus has appointed them over all his precious "belongings." This is a clear indication that he has complete trust in them." Organized to Do Jehovah's Will (2005) p.18

Who really is the Faithful and Discreet Slave?

if anyone were to come up to you claiming that they are the faithful and discreet slave, how would you go about proving them to be false, based upon scripture?.

Who really is the Faithful Slave? That is an easy one. Just read Matthew 24:45 and look at what it says.

Matt 24:45 - “Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time?

When I look at verse 45 I see that Jesus must be talking about Brooklyn New York and I clearly visualize 13 men sitting in a board meeting in 1919 publishing stuff about the great pyramid of Giza…God’s stone witness.

And yes it is April of the year 1919 as this verse clearly points out. And these men are also writing about the faithful and wise servant, Pastor Charles Russell. And their names…well I see the name Rutherford in verse 45 but I don't see the others…perhaps you can see them in your mind's eye. Now, this is all scriptural… and if you don't believe it and put your trust in these 13 chosen vessels, and those directors that came after them, you will be destroyed at Armageddon along with 8 billion non-Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Now for what I really believe this verse is saying in the context of Matthew 24 and the chapters that follow.

The faithful servant is every Christian to whom Jesus will say, “Well done my good and faithful servant!” at his parousia.

Yes, but there are not two witnesses. No matter, this they will gladly report to authorities.... because Jehovah's Name will not be tarnished ...so as Vidiot said, the organization will play this up for all its worth.

Right on Ozzie. Organizations don't save.

How many JWs have told me, despite IlTim 3:15-16 that you can't be saved through reading and studying the Bible alone. Somehow you need changing Watchtower literature to supplement the Bible to be saved. And apparently you can't become a real Christian by hearing someone preach the same gospel that the Apostles preached.....at least not after Rutherford came on the scene anyway.

Well that must be WTS teaching, because Jehovah's Witnesses say they are the only real Christians. True, with just the Bible alone, we could never know about 1914, 1918 and 1919 when the directors in Brooklyn were allegedly chosen as God's sole channel of truth.

But 1914 made as much of an impact on religion as 1874 did. How do we know that....because Jesus 1914 parousia only was discovered in 1931. 1914 meant nothing before that except an embarrassing false expectation of Armageddon.
