Hell, what is it

so perhaps we all heard the jw story about jesus talking to gehenna and he was referring to a place outside the city where there was a dump burning refuse and everyone knew what it meant.. according to jw.org: tradition relates that the valley of hinnom thereafter became a place for the disposal of garbage.

and the bible provides confirmation for this.

at jeremiah 31:40, for example, the valley of hinnom is evidently called the “low plain of the carcasses and of the fatty ashes.” there was also the “gate of the ash-heaps,” a gate that seems to have opened out onto the eastern extremity of the valley of hinnom at its juncture with the kidron valley.—nehemiah 3:13, 14.. i think i heard that in the study of the greatest teacher book first.

My book, "Eternal Torment-Image and Reality" available on Amazon.com, does not deal with the state of the dead or the resurrection. It focuses only on scripture related to temporary and especially eternal torment of the wicked.

My personal view is that the righteous and unrighteous, pre and post crucifiction, are asleep and therefore are not totally extinguished. At the judgment, all will be awakened, some to life and immortality and some to judgment during the millennium period.

I see Lazarus and the Rich Man as a parody of Pharisaic beliefs, in which the Pharisees end up in the very hell they used to control the common people.

What makes the Watchtower Society essential to Salvation?

is the watchtower society and watchtower literature essential for salvation according to jehovah's witnesses?.

ii timothy 3:15–17 that tells us that the word is sufficient for salvation and holiness, that the man of god might be perfect, thoroughly furnished for good works?.

people became christians, i.e., were justified and lived holy lives long before the watchtower society came on the scene.

People became Christians, i.e., were justified and lived holy lives long before the Watchtower Society came on the scene. Do Witnesses think people can still be justified today and live Holy lives having and following the Bible.. without ever seeing any Watchtower literature?

If not, at what point in time did the Bible become insufficient for salvation and holy living?

There is not a single verse in scripture which suggests that human souls are immortal.

There is only one verse of scripture which juxtaposes eternal and torment. However it is found in a symbolic book in a verse pregnant with imagery and does not include a single human being. Revelation 20:10.

i hope jws like scholar and fisherman will explain why the trust the gb.. i must be honest, i see no evidence at all to put trust in either the 1919 selection or the current men taking the lead in warwick.

How can you be saved if you don't have complete trust God's handpicked men?

"Since Jehovah God and Jesus Christ completely trust the faithful and discreet slave, should we not do the same?" Watchtower 2009 Feb 15 p.27

The "Watchtower 2022 Feb p.4 States ---The plain truth is that we cannot say that we trust in Jehovah if we do not trust in his earthly representatives - those whom Jehovah trusts. Today Jehovah leads the earthly part of his organization by means of "the faithful and discreet slave.""

The Governing Body also claims that because Jesus has appointed them, they must therefore be trustworthy.

"There are many reasons to have complete trust in the slave class. First and foremost, Jesus has appointed them over all his precious "belongings." This is a clear indication that he has complete trust in them." Organized to Do Jehovah's Will (2005) p.18

Who really is the Faithful and Discreet Slave?

if anyone were to come up to you claiming that they are the faithful and discreet slave, how would you go about proving them to be false, based upon scripture?.

Who really is the Faithful Slave? That is an easy one. Just read Matthew 24:45 and look at what it says.

Matt 24:45 - “Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time?

When I look at verse 45 I see that Jesus must be talking about Brooklyn New York and I clearly visualize 13 men sitting in a board meeting in 1919 publishing stuff about the great pyramid of Giza…God’s stone witness.

And yes it is April of the year 1919 as this verse clearly points out. And these men are also writing about the faithful and wise servant, Pastor Charles Russell. And their names…well I see the name Rutherford in verse 45 but I don't see the others…perhaps you can see them in your mind's eye. Now, this is all scriptural… and if you don't believe it and put your trust in these 13 chosen vessels, and those directors that came after them, you will be destroyed at Armageddon along with 8 billion non-Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Now for what I really believe this verse is saying in the context of Matthew 24 and the chapters that follow.

The faithful servant is every Christian to whom Jesus will say, “Well done my good and faithful servant!” at his parousia.

Yes, but there are not two witnesses. No matter, this they will gladly report to authorities.... because Jehovah's Name will not be tarnished ...so as Vidiot said, the organization will play this up for all its worth.
