As it stands my status is that of a disfellowshipped apostate ostracized from close family members.
Unfortunately injustices like this happen when you are in a cult.

by Leslie inin 2008 i was baptized into the truth after leaving a trinitarian faith.
during my eight years as a jehovah’s witness, i strived to keep the standards set by the bible, wt and the faithfull and discrete slave.
but unfortunately, the congregational elders from the kingdom hall i attended were not keeping to jehovah’s standards, hence, wrote my letter of resignation.

Whether you wake up immediately at death or wait till the resurrection, you will have the exact same reaction. Either way, the next conscious moment after death, you will face the inevitable.

I don't see one scripture which indicates that the human soul is innately immortal. The mortal soul puts on immortality only after the resurrection.

Hi Seabreeze,
Regarding your list of scriptures to prove conscious life immediately after death; almost all relate to punishment after the resurrection. Consequently, they are irrelevant to the subject of consciousness prior to the resurrection. There is one exception and that is the Lukian account of Lazarus and the Rich Man which happens to be a parody of the Pharisees as is the preceding account of the master congratulating the conniving dishonest steward.

Shunning and persecution
by Vanderhoven7 injws see shunning as a loving provision.
but if a mennonite gal is shunned by her parents and friends for converting to jwism, would this be seen as a loving provision or as evidence of persecution?
how about parents beating a daughter who converted to jehovah's witnesses?.

Greg Tuckett writes about some issues with fading.
"I must say this seems to depend on your congregation or area you live in. I was a publisher and never got baptized, but a few friends of mine who also drifted away were pretty much left alone to do so. I did have a few elders pester me into coming back when I would bump into them, but I chose not to explain my reasons why because I knew it would most likely put my family who was still part of the congregation in a difficult position, most likely being viewed as bad associations by association if you know what I mean.
But saying that, I have known others who belonged to different congregations who have been pestered by the elders until they have given the reasons why they have left, and this always leads to them being disfellowshipped. Unfortunately, this seems to be the case more often than not and was the very reason I started questioning the beliefs in the first place.
