Also, why is Satan a "master deceiver"? Seems like deceiving Adam and Eve would be like putting a bacon treat in front of a puppy...

Who told the first lie?
by nicolaou inthis is a continuation of the discussion which sprang from an unrelated topic.. so according to genesis, who told the first lie?
god told eve that if she ate from the tree of knowledge she would die that very same day.
in response to that statement the devil told her she would not die.. eve ate from the tree and did not die.

It's an argument about internal consistency, it seems. For a moment, grant all the premises, suspend disbelief, and just read it as if it were a history book.
"The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil."
So, before eating the fruit, neither of them "knew", or "understood" good from evil. I think that it is safe to say that anyone that doesn't understand a distinction between "good" and "evil", doesn't know "right" from "wrong".
Assume God had many discussions with Adam about what to do, and what not to do. No matter what God said, Adam was incapable of understanding why he would refrain from any act at all.
For example, what's an "evil" act? What if someone were to violently torture and rape a baby? Seem pretty evil. Can you imagine being truthfully confused by the statement "you should not rape and torture a baby because it's wrong, its evil"?
Adam and Eve were basically psychopathic postmodernists.
In legal terms, Adam and Eve were not capable of having the mens rea to commit any "crime". They cant understand "crime" itself.
In short: By what mechanism did God expect Adam and Eve to do "the right thing"? And for what reason is the ultimate price appropriate or justified?

No, the problem I have is simply ... WHY.
Why did our loving heavenly Father not say to Able "it is a good idea to not go out with your brother today"?
Here is one logical reason: What if, because He has all knowledge, he knew the worlds in which he prevented the murder of Able also turn out worse - in one way or another. Suppose Able had a son, who had a son, who had a son who killed hundreds of people.
What if all possible worlds with free will have evil in them, but this world just happens to be the one with the least amount of evil?
Also, is it really true that we were supposed to be created free from hardship? I know that's the JW doctrine, but I don't think it's the Christian one. Why are we assuming humans were supposed to be created as God's pets?
What if Able was kept physically alive, and less suffering occurs over time, but less people are "saved" in the long run?
In short, if you believe in God, as a human, you aren't in a good epistemic position to ask "why".

Crisis of Conscience
by Freeatlast2024 inthis is my first time posting to this forum.

i’m thankful that i was raised this way, because i feel it protected me in some ways, especially with regard to moral issues.

However, with all the recent changes starting late last year (2023), I started really questioning whether the GB was just making shit up.
Be honest - you've been questioning a lot longer than that.
And that's perfectly fine.

Was it Designed?
by Jeffro inthe jw website is currently featuring a piece: the shell of the diabolical ironclad beetle—was it designed?
it is part of their regular tedious 'was it designed?
' series that purports that very very specific animal species must have been specifically designed because of some seemingly amazing feature.. but they seem completely unaware that this directly contradicts their notion that only very broad 'kinds' were required on the mythical 'ark'.

Dear Chevelle,
I merely suggested treating Muslims in the exact way they treat Jews and Christians. I could have suggested we invade and demand all Muslims convert or die - which is the Islamic policy for non-muslims who are not "people of the book". But I figure they deserve the mercy they give to Jews - mainly, convert or live as a second hand citizen, paying the tax to support their oppression.

Let's take Iran. Make it part of Israel. Convert all mosques to synagogues. Make all Muslims pay a tax to fund it.

Maybe the 10 year plan included green lighting tight pants, which is why they had to get rid of Tony.
