"We are not allowed to have credit cards."
by OnTheWayOut ini was traveling and used my credit card to buy a gift at the airport.. so the lady behind the counter flips my credit card over to look at the signature and it says "see i.d.
" where my signature belonged.
she asked for the i.d.. .

Blondie... maybe the credit card rule was supposed to be "sribbled in" on one of the page margins of that church manual (for legal reasons... like the JW elder manual)...

Phone witnessing??
by OneDayillBeFree inits just praised religous telemarketing!.
ive been doing it this whole morning and the only thing i've done to make it go quicker was to memorize a disconnected number.. its been working extremely well.... but did any of you that ever did it feel strange like you were selling something?!
like you were in a call center?.

I've heard of it, but never knew anyone who actually did any "phone witnessing"... I think the whole idea was to reduce or eliminate free time if a JW became chronically sick or injured... also, they could squeeze out some phone-witnessing "experiences" for assemblies to "guilt" the rank-and-file and hopefully reduce the number of "irregulars" and "inactives".... like every other stupid idea from Brooklyn, it's all about control, numbers and money...

Kingdom melodies / B4 Copyright/JW`s stealing melodies/anyone remember this ?
by smiddy ini can recall sometime ago in the 60`s 70`s or theirabouts,it when they first printed their own songbook must have been before the org.copyrighted their material, and the reason they did that is because some brothers were stealing the tunes ?
maybe modifying them and passing them off as their own for commercial gain?
( i know some of you are going to say wtf ?

i've never heard of any JWs trying to peddle off a "Kingdom re-mix" album, but the Society always made money with "Kingdom Melodies"...
The Society has available a quantity of orchestral recordings of the music from the 1966 songbook “SingingandAccompanyingYourselvesWithMusicinYourHearts.” This set of ten long-playing stereophonic records (P1-P10) is available at a reduced cost of $6.00 per set for publishers; $5.00 per set for pioneers. -Kindom Ministry July, 1987 p. 3

Brother Hero and Brother Sidekick, should I ask Brother Sidekick about the 1919 selection?
by garyneal ini went to the nearby 7-eleven on my lunch break to get a fountain drink and i happened to bump into some people from my wifes congregation including brother hero and brother sidekick.
brother hero was the guy who conducted a bible study with me using the bible teach book (my god, i have been around the witnesses and former witnesses too much as i even know the cult speak and book name abbreviations).
during our study he began bringing over another brother from the congregation who i began referring to as brother sidekick.. i found out from my wife that brother sidekick is the son-in-law of one of the elders in that congregation.

Gary Neal...
Are you referring to this?
Also, you might find this useful as well…

I recently confirmed the "purchase" of military service cards by JWs in Mexico from talking to Nestor Kuilan (ex-CO and ex-missionary mentioned in Ray's book). The Governing Body basically looked the other way and simply made it a "conscience matter" while JWs in Malawi were being raped, slaughtered and tortured for refusing to buy a political party card. When word spread about this, it made many JWs uncomfortable in Mexico and Brooklyn Bethel, but the manipulation by Freddy Franz was so effective that nearly everyone dismissed it as theocratic warfare.
And yes... The reason the GB looked the other away is because they didn't want to create any waves or draw attention from the government so they could continue to purchase and flip real estate as a non-religious entity throughout Mexico. It was always about money.

According to this 1877 leaflet, Armageddon was expected in 1917 (1877 + 40 years = 1917)...interesting
