Spot the obvious mistake with this JW pamphlet.
by biometrics in.
.
that's right it should be "1970s"(without the apostrophe) not "1970's"..

My brother is an elder... However, he NEVER wanted to be an elder or carry that kind of responsibility on his shoulders. In fact, would always avoid the subject and make up excuses whenever he was approached by the BOE. But my brother happens to be a push-over and the BOE knew they could "persuade" him eventually... so they started working on him with the guilt-tripping (i.e. "we really need your help, you can do so much more for Jehovah, etc .) and after many years of this, my brother finally caved in... Now he is extremely miserable but is simply too afraid to speak up and much less step down because of all the pressure he feels (with the congo not having enough elders, etc.) ... so sad.

No answer to this one!
by truthseeker1969 inas many of you know my brother an elder was called on to sit in a "judicial committee" re-instatement.. the brother has in the past done all he can to prove he is repentant but this time the co was here and apparently had a few things to say to the cobe when they were discussing the process.
the co asked why the poor guy had four re-instatement hearings and why the co had received a letter from him detailing that he "did not think he could do anymore".. anyway, long story short, the co sat in the hearing and hey presto the brother was re-instated.
my brother and the co spoke with the brother and the co said that he had done well and was sorry that the process has taken so long and shook his hand.. now he mentioned the latest letter about confidentiality and said that the society is being hit left right and center with civil lawsuits and are scared as the have no way of defending them.

Compensation comes in many forms... money, benefits, power, status, etc...
For JWs, compensation comes in the form of status... Turn in at least 15 minutes a month and your status is REGULAR... Fail to do so and you status becomes IRREGULAR or INACTIVE.
JWs, therefore, are NOT volunteers.

i am a regular pioneer in my cong reading crisis of conscience.here goes...
by MsGrowingGirl20 ini'm on page 90 right now...the info is definitely new and gives me a totally diff view as to how i used to think of faithful and discreet slave.
i was thoroughly disgusted with the way the brothers handled the oral sex and leadership problem and the insight on the scriptures book...... still have alot of questions though.

Question #9 of this week's "oral review" of DVD "Faith In Action"...
by Alfred inthis week, the service meeting will have an oral review of the dvd faith in action which was distributed in the 2010 district assembly worldwide... as many of you probably know, the intent of this dvd is to present a "white-washed" version of the history of the watchtower by omitting all the scandals and cover-ups.... i no longer go to meetings, but i would have loved to raise my hand and answer question #9 which reads: "what did the bible students expect would happen in 1914?".
my response would have been the following:.
even though the geoffrey jackson admits that the bible students expected a "heavenly reward", the dvd avoids mentioning that russell categorically predicted armageddon would come in october of 1914. what's even worse is the fact that the narrator lied on two occasions by saying that the bible students expected or reasoned that jesus would take the throne in 1914. this is completely false.
