Slandered At the Circuit Assembly & My Letter To My Mother
by headisspinning inon saturday, my ex husband went on the platform at the one day circuit assembly and slandered me in front of 800+ people.. my jw family is even up in arms because he basically lied and ruined any last bits of my reputation that i had left, the worst part is this was elder sanctioned.. i am really exhausted from all the upheaval so i will get right to the point.
the following is what i sent to my mother:.
hi mom.

I can say this - what goes round, come round. People who do things like your ex, they get paid back with what some call "bad Karma'. things will not go well in his life. Serves him right.

Are you still on your local congregation's radar because of out of town family?
by VampireDCLXV inover a couple of years ago, i did a relatively quick fade, having dropped fs and then meetings cold turkey with the space of a few months.
sure there was a bit of harassment and stalking for a while but it soon petered out as my wish to be left alone became know among the locals.
admittedly i stretched things out a little bit longer by going to meetings and conventions when i visited family in their towns for about another year after but now i'm completely "clean" as it were.

I just don't talk about it. I practiced in front of a mirror a shocked and reproving look along with the phrase. "That's something deeply personal that I don't want to discuss."
Rinse and repeat as needed.

i would love to hear from former elders.. .
my wife and i will be moving soon, and as i described in an earlier post we will be using the move as an opportunity to fade.

I don't know what the big deal is with the cards. Just move if that is what you are going to do and leave the cards where they are. why do you have to move them around? Just stop going to the hall. Just stop.

How can HOARDERS by so clueless??
by Terry inmy ex-wife was a hoarder.. it happened gradually over the 18 years we were married.. things which change slowly are invisible to us.. each step is rationalized or passed off as quirky or annoying or.....whatever.. one day you look up and your 3 car garage is full of crap and the cars sit outside in the drive way.. the attic is full.
the closets are full.
then, the living room, the bed room.

I don't see anything wrong with collecting lots of things (particularly books) so long as you have ample room for them and it isn't interfering with your life or the cleanliness of your home. Myself, I have thousands of books. I have custom built floor to ceiling bookcases in the living room, den, etc. The whole thing is lovely. I just love books. Not only do I love to read them, I love the touch, the feel, the smell of them, both old and new. Who was it who said "Books furnish a room"? They do. This sounds a little mean, but I always wonder about people who don't own books. I suppose with young people, the information is all in your computer.
I have an ereader now for travel, but although it satisfies my desire to read, I always wish I had the hard copy. The ereader is nice, especially as my eyesight is getting poor. I can change the font to a larger size. But still.....
I have always collected things. cookie jars, walking sticks, etc etc. Then I get bored with it and give it away or sell it. (Mostly I give it away) The constant is the books. But like I said, they are beautiful, and I do have room for them. Occasionally, I go through them and donate to the library for their fundraising sales. You should surround yourself with the things you think are beautiful and love. Whatever it is.
35 guitars sounds like a lot, but I can picture a wonderful room with them displayed on the wall and shelves of music everywhere. You must have fun with that.

Hello Everyone! Heres my story!
by OneDayillBeFree ini'm new here, and although i have been a lurker for several months now, its nice to finally dive in and join you all.
i hope that i find some friends as thats what i'm really looking for, i've seen enough proof that theres real love outside of this religious prison that i've biult for myself over the years, but i would like to feel it firsthand.
it's been a little hard to post anything since it's not easy being around in websites like these when you're still in and theres other jw's around sticking their noses everywhere, but now that i've found the time, i would like to share a bit about my story.... this is an email i sent paul grundy, (creator of jwfacts.com) and it basically sums up the story of my life... so i thought it would be good if you all had a read as well.

Why the Memorial Is Held on the Wrong Day
by Leolaia intonight on the evening of april 18, 2011, observant jews worldwide will celebrate passover seder, a night "different from all other nights".
the watchtower society annually schedules the memorial for jehovah's witnesses on a date that is supposed to coincide with the jewish observance of passover, as it would have been reckoned during second temple times (in particular, in the first century ad during the life of jesus).
this year the memorial was observed last night, the evening of april 17. the two religious observances are thus a day out of synth, at least this year.
