  Having Jehovah as a friend.

  i've always found it amazing that people can say with such conviction that jehovah is their friend.. we are talking about a "friend" who perhaps daily "tests" us to see if we are his friends.

  all of us have dealt with some form of hardship such as the death of a loved one, chronic illness or whatever.

  it is in these cases that the brothers will tell a person that perhaps it is a test, or that "jehovah knows you're not ready" or some other lame excuse.. do our real friends "test" us to see if we will be loyal to them?

  my great-grandmother was a jw, my grandmother is a jw, my mother and two of my aunts are jws.

  in 1983 mom, then 18 years old married my father, a wordly man and was baptized later the same year at a district convention.

  i was born in 1984.. my bedtime stories consisted of the bible stories and you can live forever books.

  another thread got me thinking of this issue.

  i don't think you'll ever come across a set of people with such a skewed and twisted outlook on life.. my memory serves me well when i recall a sort of blood lusting excitement over things like the 9/11 atrocities.

  in fact i remember jw's describing the event as 'sad but exciting.

  ..to think about how the congregations actually function....even down to the individual level.. the biggest bully on the boe (or his wife), controls the show.. ones within the congregation are treated like they're dirt and still they return.

  stockholm syndrome?.

  i've heard ones say that 'jehovah(tm) will sort it all out.

  Stockholm syndrome at is best I also get amazed how many people get hurt from this so call religion. I also think it starts from the top from gb down they portrayed superiority and all the next minions do the same. If I had dollar for every time someone told me jah will sort it out, all be close to the power ball. At the end this kind of actions will be a big factor of their dimise

  Elder continues serving as elder after his daughter got disfellowshipped!

  this is what is happening in a spanish congregation in our area.

  this happened 3 weeks ago.

  this brother conducted the school and after the school was over, another elder gave the announcement: "( name of the person) is not longer a jehovah's witness".

  @hardtobeme if he has a petition already in he can serve. I think that is dumb that illegals can't serve as ms or elders but they can get baptized. The reason is that there breaking the law.

  On the daughter issue it has to do more on how much they like him. He has been a Elder for a year so he is a new guy he probably is doing a lot of work. When the C.O visit comes he might raise concerns about it.

  The WT knew in 1922 that 1914 was wrong !

  in the may 1922 edition of the wt, page 133, rutherford is writing defending the work of russell and the 1914 doctrine, he quotes what some have said to prove russell was wrong :.
