from the june 15, 1938 watchtower, p. 185: "in the beginning of the first hebrew month the watchtower of march 1, 1925 published the article "the birth of the nation," meaning that the kingdom had begun to function.

an editorial committee, humanly provided for, then was supposed to control the publication of the watchtower, and the majority of that committee strenuously objected to the publication of that article "the birth of the nation," but, by the lord's grace it was published and that really marked the beginning of the end of the editorial committee, indicating that the lord himself is running his organization.".

there was no governing body, judge rutherford was the watchtower president making the decisions and running the organization.. .

But in Russell's time, the "organization" was basically just the publication of the WT. He wasn't interested in creating a religion of folowers. He may have been wrong in his calculations, but he wasn't establishing an authoritarian religion. That came with Rutherford, and even more with Knorr/ Franz. At least that's always been my take on this.

but how has he done this in some very critical matters?

by use of 'apostates'.. who revealed the org's whoring with the un?

Who got the US National Holocaust Museum to add wts publications to its library to ensure the truth is told? Apostates. (The org worked hard & was able to delay that for years, but we finally triumphed.)

I agree....absolutely abhorent......Even though I'm no longer a JW, those are my friends in there.....people I would have died for. People I loved even though I didn't know them.

7 found sleeping on duty because boo hoo long work hrs.... 1 watching a movie over the internet accidentally has it go on the airwaves..... thousands of people in the air ..their lives in the hands of these overworked asses!.

we are so concerned about safety that we must feel up a 6 yr old who wants to board an airplane only to have those who's job it is to make sure planes can take off and land safely ...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!.

what would happen to you if you were found sleeping on your job????.

I agree. I at one time (about 20 years ago) thought about being an ATC. Then, an elder from my hall showed me a couple of the books I would need to study. I said....."I think I'll do something else instead."

That being said, in the private sector, there is no allowance for people to be sleeping on the job. If you fall asleep on the job, you can, and should be, fired. Period. But leave it to the Federal Government to see a problem and solve it by HIRING MORE ATC's. You see, the problem wasn't that they didn't have enough ATC's, the problem was the ATC's weren't doing performing their duties. IF they can't do the job, they need to be fired. THere are hundreds of other ATC's that don't fall asleep on the job.

LONDON (AFP) – Christians have long celebrated Jesus Christ's Last Supper on Maundy Thursday but new research released Monday claims to show it took place on the Wednesday before the crucifixion.

Professor Colin Humphreys, a scientist at the University of Cambridge, believes it is all due to a calendar mix-up -- and asserts his findings strengthen the case for finally introducing a fixed date for Easter.

Humphreys uses a combination of biblical, historical and astronomical research to try to pinpoint the precise nature and timing of Jesus's final meal with his disciples before his death.

Researchers have long been puzzled by an apparent inconsistency in the Bible.

While Matthew, Mark and Luke all say the Last Supper coincided with the start of the Jewish festival of Passover, John claims it took place before Passover.

Humphreys has concluded in a new book, "The Mystery Of The Last Supper", that Jesus -- along with Matthew, Mark and Luke -- may have been using a different calendar to John.

"Whatever you think about the Bible, the fact is that Jewish people would never mistake the Passover meal for another meal, so for the Gospels to contradict themselves in this regard is really hard to understand," Humphreys said.

"Many biblical scholars say that, for this reason, you can't trust the Gospels at all. But if we use science and the Gospels hand in hand, we can actually prove that there was no contradiction."

In Humphreys' theory, Jesus went by an old-fashioned Jewish calendar rather than the official lunar calendar which was in widespread use at the time of his death and is still in use today.

This would put the Passover meal -- and the Last Supper -- on the Wednesday, explaining how such a large number of events took place between the meal and the crucifixion.

It would follow that Jesus' arrest, interrogation and separate trials did not all take place in the space of one night but in fact occurred over a longer period.

Humphreys believes a date could therefore be ascribed to Easter in our modern solar calendar, and working on the basis that the crucifixion took place on April 3, Easter Day would be on April 5.

Why the Memorial Is Held on the Wrong Day

tonight on the evening of april 18, 2011, observant jews worldwide will celebrate passover seder, a night "different from all other nights".

the watchtower society annually schedules the memorial for jehovah's witnesses on a date that is supposed to coincide with the jewish observance of passover, as it would have been reckoned during second temple times (in particular, in the first century ad during the life of jesus).

this year the memorial was observed last night, the evening of april 17. the two religious observances are thus a day out of synth, at least this year.
